Eco Mode Default On Problem Solved!
I just ordered the "Eco Off" device from Mid City Engineering. It was only $174. It is a simple device that plugs into the car bus under the passenger side dashboard. The only wiring is a power and ground wire. When I get it, I will have a local shop install it. All it does is send an "off" signal after every engine start just like pushing the eco off switch manually. The switch still functions, so you could turn it on manually anytime you want. Basically it is now "off" by default after every engine start!
I talked to the people at Mid City and they were great. I can't wait to get this installed. Check them out here:

I will give a review in a few weeks when I get it up and running.

Cool. I've used MidCity stuff before. Good gear. The CAN bus is a wonderful thing. They make a remote start for keyless go cars that also just jacks into the CAN, no wiring under the hood.

For all the b-tching and moaning that goes on around here this mid city product has been around and is a drop in the bucket ... But many would rather continue to rant online about Eco and the great conspiracy
Kudos for getting this

Not yet. They'll have something eventually. I had their starter plus a Drone mobile set up in my W221. Worked much better than the MBrace remote start. Quicker too.

I have a three year lease. I drive the car at least twice a day, every day. That's 2,190 button presses. Divided by $174...that's .08 cents per press! Sign me up MidCity!

Admit that you work for them! Right now! LOL
Makes more sense than my situation.
I work from home so I learned after BMW, Porsche and every other car that I've ever owned it is as fun as starting a jet. Flip several switches and buttons (not always related to eco)... rockets are hot!
The only cars I haven't had to do that with is are the classics like a '79 Impala where the analog **** remember everything because they had to.
Finally, I never replied to that other Eco thread but I feel like they have that as the default so they can say they meet some kind of USA emission standards and still produce the power they do. I really have no idea though. I know my xbox gets to have a "energy efficient" label due to it's default being auto power off though. Difference is, I can disable that.
tl;dr: I had a few glasses of wine and decided to reply to your posts.

And here I am, wondering why Eco mode doesn't work every time I get in my car. I don't know what their algorithm is, but lately, it's been absent a lot. It's such a waste of gas waiting at the red light

I got it installed, and it works as advertised. Now I have one less button to press when I start the car. Please proceed with the jokes...

Yes, just get a ground and hot wire. I got it from the back seat 12V outlet. Then plug the connector into the CAN Bus under the front passenger side door sill. Nothing else to do. It works great. About two seconds after you start the car, you can see the green light in the stop-start shutoff switch go out. You can still use it by pushing the switch as normal.
