Double-clutch function?

I came across this in the owners manual of my C200. Does anyone know exactly what it is?

Never heard of double clutch in any context other than dual clutch transmissions (DCT) of which the 7gtronic is not. I find the normal auto in the c200 very old fashioned and unpleasant, worst feature of the car bar the rattly 4 cyl engine. Car is lovely otherwise.

I find entries like this in the user manual completely pointless as they say nothing of any use.

Yeh it's quite strange, especially since it's not a DCT

I think "double clutch" is used as a verb there, not as a noun as in a "dual clutch". It's an action the tranny takes to rapidly engage/disengage/engage during gear changes like you can in a manual with a clutch. Just my guess. MB is famous for taking ordinary things and giving them magical sounding names in their literature.

I was thinking the same. Do you think the "sound generated by the double clutch" refers to the clunking you get sometimes when the tranny shifts? lol

That's not clunking. That's the "emotional percussive emission of the variation in gear ratio".

Just a guess, but do you think they are referring to rev matching during downshifts?
