AMG.one finally exposed!
I'm making the observation, that's all. If it's accurate, there's no negative connotation, at least not from me. I bought both my sons brand new, very nice cars for graduating high school and I've promised my daughter a CPO SLK if she graduates with a full Bright Futures scholarship. But if she sticks an AMG badge on it, she will unfortunately, have to be disowned.
Thanks for sharing that you are "bank of dad" for buying cars for your kids! Again I don't see the relevance for this thread. However, I hope to be able to do that for my kids when they're old enough.
My only quibble is the combo of shaving the C300 badge, which was the only remaining visual cue the car was not a C450, and adding the AMG model trunk badge, which further implies the car is a C450.
For example, leaving the C300 badge and replacing the 4Matic badge with AMG, while a stretch, is not deceptive. I think it's a little goofy but you're not misrepresenting the model.
Shaving the car, with no model designation and no extra AMG badge, also does not misrepresent the model IMO.

Obviously a C450 is way more fun, and they're not exorbitantly more expensive than a 300, especially now as a close out. Just trying to understand the thinking.
My two boys did not get Mercedes, because their grades frankly weren't great. One got a new CC R Line, and the other a new Scion FRS. I put a set of staggered 18's, rims, and a nice Pioneer audio system in it. The CC stayed stock because that little MF'er is lucky he's not driving the beater 2005 Camry we keep around as a spare.
Now once those two cars are paid off, and my C300 lease is up, the Bank Of Dad is looking at a black C63 with the split 5 spoke wheels.

We're a bit better off than my folks were. So far the kids are not total entitled retards. My 21 year old is a TV sports director for SEC Network and ESPN. He freelances for NFL Films at the Jaguar home games and teaches Intro To Production at UF. Which ain't bad considering he's still in his Senior year. The other one...eh...
I have a C63s that I should maybe re-badge as a Chiron since I'm a broke dick and can't afford a $3M+ car. I know I know...but what if I owned a VW Bug and rebadged Chiron. Same company...
The car is clean. I think it's super "kiddish" to upbadge it in the wrong PLACE more so then anything. It is definitely a head shaker. You want to be stylish...got that. You obviously wanted a 450 and didn't have the cash so why not tweak it...got that also. But why didn't you at least look at existing C63s photos of decklids and put the ebay badge on the correct side? (i attached a few of mine for reference)
I'm not a hater because I could give 2 ****s, its his car. However those of us (meaning me) that did buck up and roll 6 figures think its funny as HE11 that you would do this to the point of doing it wrong. If you are going to admire something to the point of emulating it...which is the best form of flattery I might ad; at lease emulate it correctly.

Anyone got any felling on me Rebadging who handbuilt my motor? I was going to rebadge my Sasha Jonas motor to being built by F1Mike aka: Michael Kubler? (see attached photos). I think a magic marker could change it if i have a steady hand.
BTW Just for fun I posted my Track car with all its ///AMG logos on it for fun. I rebadged the BMW as a HOF. And I really had fun with all the AMG references on it.
Let the posts fly.....
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
As far as the badge thing goes, people should really understand that this is exactly the promotion that Mercedes-Benz and AMG want...it is advertising and brand awareness! This is not like buying a GTI and putting a Porsche crest on it, the car has AMG components all over it. I wish all you purists were around years ago when we had every poser in town coming into Brabus to buy a $110 trunk logo, but they couldn't spring for anything else, but they would want the Brabus badge because people didn't know any better. Back in the days we always would supply the trunk badge willingly to those who purchased wheels or a body package and exhaust, not everyone would buy a $40k-$80k engine upgrade, but for those that did there was always the engine designation 5.8, 6.1, 7.3 etc...
I laugh really hard at the emails from time to time that I get from used car dealers that say I got a Brabus car here or a Carlsson car, can you tell me what was done to this? I would get pictures and 9 times out of 10 they would have some knock off chinese wheels and the trunk logo only, and these used car guys are supposed to be specialists...ha yeah right! Some probably don't know the difference between an AMC and a AMG! LOL!
After I removed the Carlsson stuff I also removed the Carlsson trunk emblem, left it clean and I personally hate car emblems, so putting on the AMG is not really for me, chances are if I bought a AMG 63 I would most likely remove the badges, but that is just me.
Enjoy your car, and hopefully all the purists will continue to praise the brand! Cheers!
Jim :-)
Apparently you and some others on this forum created a gauge that measures how "AMG" an MB truly is, as well as the thresholds to stipulate if your allowed to brand it "AMG." Give me a break....
Again, to the OP, Beautiful Car! Keep doing what makes you happy and what looks great to your eye!

I had two 220s (420, 500) and a 221 (550), all with "AMG Sport Appearance Packages". Once in awhile someone unfamiliar with the brand would ask if the cars were "an AMG". They weren't. I always said they weren't.
AMG cars historically have had their plebeian base level performance parts replaced with monstrous, substantially upgraded, absurdly over engineered ones. I'm sure you've seen the brakes on an S63. They look like they could stop a 747. Ditto the blown hand built V8 or biturbo V12, the ABC suspension, the terrific exhausts. AMG body parts and wheels were window dressing...the least functional but prettiest elements of the car. The outward sign of what lay beneath, never considered performance elements in and of themselves.
After wholly acquiring AMG, Mercedes started down a slippery slope. IMO, my little T4 C300 Sport should have zero AMG branding. Floor mats with a Mercedes logo or star would be fine. Love the body kit and the little 5 spoke wheels. They look great. They're not AMG either.
The C450 earns the badge. It actually has AMG mechanicals. Ten years ago, no way that car exists in the AMG line up, but things change, I get it. The car's price point brings a lot more enthusiasts into the brand, at a much younger age. Maybe MB thinks those same guys when they're older and bigger earners will be AMG loyalists and start ponying up for the monster AMG cars.
But a stock C300 with different wheels and a body kit? Nah.

Either way it is a branding concept that exposes the product to help sell more cars, which at the end of the day that is what they want to do.
To those guys out there that want to run the badge because of these few elements on their car, I say let them, and to the Purists that know better, enjoy the laugh I guess and be satisfied it is not you!

Jim

Let me spell it out to you slowly, so you can understand.
Your Point:
AMG badge is deceitful.
My Point:
Mercedes already brands the AMG logo in the interior of his c300 sport. No difference in putting a badge on the outside of his car. EDITTTTTT - and to Latec300's point, the outside too!
Putting the c63 emblem WOULD be deceitful (as he does not own a c63). (If putting an emblem on a car could even be categorized as "deceitful.")

First $10 and or AMG emblem takes them!

I will begin to end the war between BMW and Mercedes and I will just say it is the car that is going to make BMW Great Again!

Also, when making your point about how child-like you think someone else is, try using fewer little animated cartoons as punctuation. Unless you're going for irony.
Cute horsey though.

It's ALL over the car already... it's humorous that by adding the logo to the boot, makes it taboo. haha
