Had this for 1.5 week so far. Great car. No wind noise issue, everything as solid as I hope. Just got a Escort Max 360 and once out of break in, I'm ready to break loose.
Until
I found oil pooling under engine bay this weekend in my garage as I pulled out to wash my baby for the 1st time. Heart drops and check oil right the way and it seems to filled way beyond Max on the dip stick. I hope that the overfill caused gasket issue somewhere and caused the leak. Still kinda pissed that I am stuck with a CLA250 until dealer has time to determine what's really wrong with it.

Here's a joke to lighten the mood. A penguin is driving through town one day and his car dies. It's towed to a shop and the mechanic tells the penguin it's going to be a few hours, if he'd like to walk around town and come back later.
The penguin is strolling through town and finds an ice cream shop. He orders a giant vanilla cone and it drips all over him in the hot sun as he eats it.
He gets back to the shop. The mechanic says "Hey, it looks like you blew a seal". "No no no" says the penguin, "It's just ice cream".

If this is a lease forget about it. If you are purchasing it you should insist that they replace the motor.
There is no way to tell how much damage occurred before oil started slopping out without pulling the head and examining the motor. If it was severely overfilled this would cause the oil to foam. The foamed oil will not pump properly through the oil pump. This will cause cavitation and will starve the engine of oil. Damage can range from zero to catastrophic failure depending on how long it was starved and the rpm range it ran at during this period.

My guess is the excess pressure blew the front main seal, the rear main seal or both (hence my seal joke). Some engines have a way to safely vent off excess oil from an overfill. Not sure this one does.

Sorry to hear this. Assuming the screw up was at the factory the dealer should have caught this during PDI.
I just took delivery of my 450 3 days ago. This is probable a freak occurrence, but I'm definitely going to check my oil level when I get home tonight just to be on the safe side.

The verdict is the o-ring around the oil level sensor. Not a big deal.
And it's a lease anyway since it's a daily driver, so as long as it's not going to strand me somewhere down the road, it's ok. The only thing I got pissed about is the leg cramp I got from trying to fit into the CLA250.
Looks like I may get it back tomorrow.
And good one Mike
