Hey guys just wondering if I can get some help. I bought a Garmin SD Card a couple days ago on eBay and it just arrived today. I put it into the slot and a message came up reading " update cards are not supported ". I've done nothing to it, all I did was take it out and stuck it into the slot. Just wondering if anyone has any insight or had the same problem and can give me some pointers. I attached a pic below of what it says. Thanks

My understanding is that each Garmin SD card for the W205 has a unique production identifier that is paired to the car's VIN. I don't believe a third party card, or even an MB card from a different W205 will work.

I'd return it for a refund.

Mike, that is not entirely correct. The card is only mated with the car at insertion. So, it can be used with any car as long as it's brand new, unused. He didn't say whether it was brand new, unopened, so it's hard to say. One thing to consider is the car software vs the card's version. When my car's software was updated, the card stopped working. But it gave me a different error.

I bought it from a guy on eBay as brand new in an opened box. I was skeptical and even emailed him and asked him are you sure it hasn't been in another car because it was an open box and I said don't waste my time here please because it will 100% not work in my car and he said no it hasn't been installed in another car its brand new. But being that it was an open box I still had my doubts all along. Why open it in the first place.

well, there's not much you can do now except return it. Nobody, even MB dealer, can make it work. In my case, the dealer had to give me a new card.

Well luckily, as I discovered, despite the sellers return policy, a buyer can force the seller to accept the return and pay return shipping. Just open a case and select "item defective or not as described." eBay will pull the refund out of the sellers PayPal account if he doesn't issue the refund himself.

He is going to accept the return and give me a refund. Thank goodness! Just sucks because it was such a waste of time.

I am looking into getting one for my C300. How much did you pay? I know $500 - 600 is normal But is there other options cheaper?

If you want one that actually works, get it from a dealer or make sure it's brand new and has never been installed.

I got that error message after updating the original card on line. The updated card had software newer than the vehicle. MB said that they needed to update the car software but that did not work either, then they said that they needed to get extra software and/or card as well. It's been several months now with no resolution, in my opinion it's not a good system and not well integrated into the vehicle

2. i try memory card validation in car message " navigation software on the memory card is out of date, please update the navigation software "
3.in PC Mercedes download manager message " please inset SD card in vehicle first " .


4. when i upgrade navigation software add some garmindevice.xml , message in car is " update card are not supported "

please help
