Minor dent on C400

Unfortunately my car took a minor hit today at work, did not see the dent till after I got home but I'm assuming the Ford Expedition that was parked beside me hit my fender while trying to open the door.

Was just trying to hopefully get it fixed at home since it's not a huge dent. Don't know how I would go about doing it, but I've heard pouring boiling hot water and giving the dent a push from the inside does the trick.

It also seems like some of the paint from the other car got onto mine but couldn't really tell, going to have to give the car a wash to get a better look at that.

Was hoping on getting some opinions on how I should go about fixing this problem.

Thank you all for your help!

The hot water trick works on plastic bits (bumpers etc). For minor sheet metal dents where the paint isn't broken, Google Mobile PDR (Paintless Dent Repair) in your area.

Probably under $100 to have those taken care of. Do not attempt repairing it yourself. You risk making it worse if you don't know what you're doing.

No offense, don't pour honey or hot water on it

Take it to your insurance agent and then to a Benz authorized body shop and write a check for the deductible

Those are "minor" to your eyes but major in terms of actual dollars if you spend cash without insurance to fix

Get it fixed professionally because any mistake you make will be irreversible.

Get a good body shop to cut/polish the paint mark and then to use a procedure called paintless dent removal. Both will be minimal expenses.

No offense that is a horrible idea. I would never in a million years ask my insurance company to pay for a dent that can be remedied with other options. Its not like the dent was caused by a 49mph hit. It was hit by a door in a parking lot. I would try much cheaper options first and of all else fails write a check myself. And if that fails and hell freezes over i still wouldn't call my insurance company......

Whether you present it to insurance or not, it'll end up being a PDR, and probably less than your deductible. I have a PDR guy who works all of the local dealerships taking out stuff like that all day long. I'll just meet him at whatever lot he happens to be at, and twenty minutes and $75 later you'd never know it had been dented.

Yes, definitely a paintless dent repair candidate. My daughter's car (2015 c coupe) had something similar but on the rear fender. It only took a couple of hours and $75. The pdr tech even did it on site at her work place. The result was pretty good... Like nothing happened at all. Google it, they're all over... Good luck!

Paintless dent removal for sure. But consider parking FAR away from people if this is going to continue. Or find the owner of the Ford if they work at your job, explain the situation and have them pay for it.

I agree, park as FAR away as possible (even if it hasn't happened yet)!

Find a Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) shop in your area. The type of shop that fix hail damages. I did have similar issues on my previous car (exactly same locations) and was able to fix it for $120. I believe you have a Dent Tech also in your area....they're awesome! I doubt someone can find it after the repair.

Update:
I went to 2 PDR shops in my area and one of them quoted me $200 and the second shop quoted $300. Both of the shops said they would do the best they could and said it would be 90% fixed. An issue for the shops was that the front fender was aluminum so it would be hard for them to work on it.

Also told security at work to take a look at footage and see if they could identify the person who did it, so I could come to an agreement with him/her.

Also thank you all for your replies!

I just had a dent on my Porsche repaired by my dealer, using their PDR guy. The dent was in the door, which is aluminum, and the dealer charged me $90 for the repair. I am very critical about body work, and I was amazed that I could not tell there was ever a dent in the door. There is absolutely no trace of the original damage.

Can PDR guys fix dimples pointing outwards? A friend of mine had some stuff tip over inside his Sprinter and he ended up with small round outward facing dents.

Yes. They usually create a new inward dent from that and work on it like a regular dent. But, i'm no expert. So, you might wanna call around a few pdr guys in your area.
