Hi guys,

As I posted in another thread, I am getting terrible treadwear on my factory 19" ContiProContact Summer High Performance tires.

After 3200 km's, my fronts are down to 6/32nds (both sides), while my rears are still at a reasonable 9/32nds.

I have a dealer service appointment scheduled for 23 June for a full alignment and diagnosis of this tire issue. My service manager agreed that these tires should be nowhere near this spent on only 3200 km (2000 miles), even on a full AMG that's not close to normal.

If I do my math, the tires start at 10/32nds and no longer pass inspection at 3/32 (although I would never go that far with any tire myself). That means 7/32nds of total life. At 6/32nds currently, that means I've worn out 4 out of 7/32nds of tire life, equating to 58%... So if 3200 km's equals 58% wear, that means my tires will be completely done at 5500 km's (3400 miles)...

Could others with C450's and these tires comment on their treadwear experience, please? I'd like to collect a sampling from others to determine how far off my experience has been!

We have the 19s with the Conti's on them. Only at 1100mi so far, so it's too early to tell if the tread wear is abnormal. I'll post if I see anything strange about the wear pattern.

True but I originally posted in km's so wasn't sure if he had adjusted his mileage to km's

Post glitched for some reason. Wouldn't take the edit for while either. It's happened to me a couple time on this board.

How do they feel vs. the stock run flats? What's the ride like in comfort mode? I'm assuming the grip is equal to or superior to the Conti RF.

Bump - would really love to hear from others with these tires on C450's? I must not be the only one to get Continentals with the 19" AMG Wheels. I know a lot got Pirelli's though...

I have the Continentals on my lease. I'm taking them off after 1,000 miles and keeping them for the lease turn in. I'll be going with a non run flat and hopefully getting at least 30,000 miles out of them.

No comparison. Super quiet, no thump when you go over a speed hump or a pothole and no dreading every single time you do that you've got a blow out!

Did you get the same size ? I am going to switch to the pss as well, but I just don't know if I can go wider on the Amg wheel.

Make sure they are the same profile as well. MB were very instant they have to be both the same size and profile to not good the warranty.

Sorry to hear the Conti's wear so quickly. I pick up my car on Monday, and it has Conti's on it. Will report back in a few thousand k.
I suspect the tread wear will accelerate after the break-in period

My car went in to the dealer. They indicated that it was out of alignment and that they fixed it. They are telling (Service Advisor level, so far) that there is nothing that can be done about worn out tires... I will just have to suck it up... Front tires are down to 6/32nd's in outside channel and about 8/32 in inside channel... Their excuse is that it's a sporty car so it should be expected... BS.

Not letting this go!

I wouldn't let it go either. Your mileage is really low. If it was incorrectly aligned on delivery and it subsequently chewed up the tires, it's their obligation to replace them.

Definitely pursue this. They made a mistake that caused you to lose tire lifespan. Since you have the numbers for the accelerated wear you should be able to calculate a dollar amount you lost (compared to wear with good alignment).

The service manager called me and was much nicer and agreeable than the SA. He was going to place a call in to Mercedes Canada to ask for front tires because of the improper alignment from the factory.

I'm not overly optimistic but will wait to see what corporate has to say...

Front toe was 1.9 degrees when the spec is 0.5 degrees, I think. It's my understanding that is a major difference from spec...

Happy to report that Mercedes Canada authorized my dealer to put 2 new front tires on. They were not able to substitute the tire or offer credit for value against a different tire, unfortunately. They have referred my case to Germany, apparently, as there have been a multitude of issues with C450s with this wheel/tire configuration. Apparently Mercedes will come back with some specific alignment specs to use (different than original specs) to avoid future issues...

Either way, I got a free alignment (it was way off) and got 2 brand new tires, so that makes me a happy camper!

Was just looking for such a thread,

having had a C450 since january, with now 3200 MILES on it 5120 KM, I noticed they looked a little thing. Sure enough, they are at 5MM in the front and 7MM in the rear.. bout 6/32 fronts. These are the pirelli run flats in the USA.

That seems REALLY POOR in my opinion. Having had mercedes for years E500, C43, CLK450, E320, C320, C300 and gotten between 20K MILES and 40K MILES (yes, 40K on conti contact on the C320 and C300) I find this amount of rubber lost on the C450 pirelli run flats to be appalling.

Definitely going to bring it up with the SA or other manager
