Solenoid engagement/sound on 2015 C300?
Hello!
My mom has a C300 that my father bought for her for her birthday. They noticed this morning that whenever she goes from Park to Drive, Drive to Park, or if she cuts the engine but keeps the key in position 2 and goes from Park to Neutral or back, you can hear a small click/engagement/etc.
I've told them that it is the solenoid/gear box engaging to simply put her in the proper gear. She's convinced something is wrong.
She wants to drop it off at the dealership this weekend and I'm hoping if enough of you chime in with agreement I can show her the consensus to save her, and myself since I have to pick her up, some time.

It's most likely the transmission engaging gears. In Park, it's a little metal tap inside the gearbox that holds the car still. If you hold the brakes, put it in park and stop the car and then release the brakes, it will make a click noise when the metal tap engages. Hope this is helpful.

Modern cars make all sorts of unusual noises. I work now on the basis that if its still attached to the car and works then it's ok.
