Any hacks to get backup camera to be permanently on?

I just think it would be cool to have the camera be a permanent option, even while in drive. Of course you'd still like to be able to use all the regular options like Radio, Media, etc., but it doesnt see that would be possible, to switch back and forth Unless someone knows something I dont...

It pops out from under the trunk lid. That's why it takes a second to load.

I don't believe what you look for is possible OEM, I've not seen anything after market either.

Use the the rear view mirror?

If you get the 10.25" screen that you've been on the fence for a while, this would be a feasible and ready option (with an aftermarket backup camera).

According to one of the suppliers of video-in-motion unlocking software, while they have been able to program video unlocking for COMAND functions, the cameras subsystem has a separate controller which at this point they have been unable to crack.

Why would you want to mess with the oem camera and risk Ffing it up when you can pick up an after market one for about $20 on ebay?

.. and just in case you though "gee it can't be that complex", here's the function schematic for the camera (more than a dozen modules and 20 messages just to open and close the *** camera!)

Probably because with the amount of dirt accumulates in the trunk area, it may not be smart to drive with the camera in the flip down position, even if there is a hack for it.

Trade it in on a Tesla. They have that ability with a MUCH larger screen(at least my friends model does).

thats what I'd do, spend three times the cost of the C to get a bigger screen.
