Bluetooth tethering not working after Android update

[For thos who like to get down to business]
2017 C300 + Google Pixel XL (Android 7.1). Internet connection via bluetooth tethering used to work okayish (60%-70% of the time). After Android updated itself about 2 weeks ago, internet tethering stopped working. Bluetooth connectivity is still okay - calls, bluetooth audio work fine -.
Has anyone experienced the same or a similar issue?

I am new to this forum and I find this place very helpful! Great to be here.
Got my 2017 C300 sedan (Canada) a month ago. It was a factory order because of the configuration I wanted. The wait time was 2 months (not too bad).
This is my first new car ever and my first Mercedes-Benz ever. LOVE IT!!!

My COMMAND now has instant internet connection every time I get into the car (100% of the time).
absolutelly mind boggling that our w205 does not have the option to tether a mobile's data connection here in the USA.
our only option is a slow 3g connection. and by slow, i mean SLOW.

Can't do that in Canada. The whole tether thing doesn't work 1/2 the time and even if it does, the amount of apps available is limited and also useless while driving.

I guess both solutions (tethering vs own sim) have their pros and cons. Tethering works in my car now just fine. No complaints. The one app that I use is the online radio. Other than that I watch a few youtube videos while waiting in the car every now and then.
