Push Button Start - no Start
Had an unusual occurrence on Friday morning. Went out to start the car using the pushbutton. All indications of a start happened...ie...tach and speedo rotated with the normal red arch, lights came on (car was in garage), air came on, radio came on and all normal warning lights came on momentarily as per usual. No engine start...not even a wimper from the starter. I tried it 2 or 3 times with the same result.
Popped off the pushbutton and inserted key and had a normal engine start.
After I got to my destination I reinserted the pushbutton. Subsequent engine starts using keyless go have been normal since then. I have not changed the fob battery.
I've had keyfob battery issues in the past but with a dead battery in the fob I got nothing, no instruments etc, along with the no engine start.
Anyone else seen this situation? Right now I'm just chalking it up to...hmmmm...that was interesting.

I doubt if for the same reason I don't think the battery in the FOB was an issue. If the signal was blocked, I wouldn't have gotten all the other indications of an attempted engine start.
Plus, I had the key laying in the center console.

I had this happen to me twice, about 2 months apart. There was only one non-start each time - I didn't even have to pop off the button, I just shut everything off and did the normal "foot on brake and push button" again and it started. Will certainly mention this to the dealer when my car is next in for service. There should be a fault code stored.

My car did something weird twice over the last month. Get to my destination and shut car off like normal get out hit the lock on the handle it beeps go into the store come back put hand on handle it unlocks I open door and the radio is playing. Not sure how or why. Thought maybe I didn't actually shut it off but I know for a fact I heard the alarm beep.

When my GLC was a couple of months old I had the identical problem.
Called the M-B help line. Reached a professional lady, who after detailing my problem, advised me to remove the start/stop button. When I couldn't get it out she told me to pull harder. When I removed the button she told me to attempt a start using the key, which was successful.
Have had the vehicle nine months at this point with no recurrence.

The button on my C Class comes out quite easily and I had no problem starting the motor with the key.
Unless it reoccurs I'm just going to chalk it up to gremlins not having their morning coffee that day.

Solid logic.
By the way Mikey I very much like your avatar.
When I was in Viet Nam I witnessed a three aircraft B-52 bomb run from about 20/25 miles away from the base control tower. Damm scary! The VC called them silent death.
