So the attachment isn't the clearest scan but that shows the car in stock and in Sport+ mode on the dinan. The end result is the car dyno'd 194hp/239tq in stock mode. In Sport+ mode on the dinan it dyno'd at 204hp/256tq. In Race mode it only made maybe 1-2hp/2-3tq more than that. So overall a gain of 11hp/18tq.

Not bad for a 5 minute install but just not the advertised gain of 31lbs of torque. Now as I sit here writing this I am wondering if the guy put the car itself in Sport+ mode, or if that even matters. I failed to mention it so it's not their fault if it wasn't. In the end i'm still happy with it and will go back in the warmer weather to have them re-dyno it.

Thanks for posting the dyno! Great addition to this thread.
Something to note though is that it looks like the max gain in torque was around ~28 wheel ft-lbs at ~2900 rpm and the max wheel HP gain was at the 5200 rpm area and looks to be around 16 HP.

Based on your dyno numbers there appears to be a 12.5% drivetrain loss in Torque and a 19.5% drivetrain loss in HP (using the stock numbers of 241 HP/ 273 ft-lbs). Meaning you would have a ~31 crank ft-lbs gain and a ~19 crank HP gain if my math is correct.

Remember that vendors generally post the MAX possible gains across the entire power band (not just comparing the peak values). Also, don't confuse Wheel HP with Crank HP when looking at numbers vendors post.

You know that's a great point. I'm so hung up on max values I wasn't really looking across the band. I had to think it was more than 18lbs because you can really feel the power down low so that makes sense given a ~28lb gain around 3000rpm. Thanks for pointing that out. Again, i'm very happy with the module and still recommend it.

Sport+ on Initial Dyno?

Hey, did you ever find out if the guy put your car in Sport+ mode for the dyno? My understanding is that Sport+ adds +3 psi boost. [Can anyone confirm this?] So it would, in fact, create a "better"/higher read, which means the difference in adding the Dinan may be marginal. Not to be rude. I am strongly considering one myself, hence the question. But I am torn on the piggyback vs. new ECU that I can just swap in and out when I need to go to the dealership.

Thanks!

for the price of entry get the Dinan sport . It's a cheap quick performance fix and does provide a nice little gain . If that isn't enough you can sell it off at some point , I hear Dinan is looking to release a higher end piggy back as well with their full 4yr 50k new car warranty deal like they have on BMW in the near future . That would be what I would do if I got rid of the sport , just my 2 cents

Has anyone measured or have an estimate of the 0-60 from this Sport tuner on the C300? I know it's not going to be anything crazy, but just curious to know before I get one!

Not a rude question at all, i'd be wondering the same thing as you if roles were reversed. I never did find out and by the time I thought about asking the guy at the shop I knew there was no way he would remember so I have to assume it was not in Sport+.

I did a quick search and I haven't found any Mercedes literature that states the normal boost increases in that mode so I don't know if i'll see any huge gains when I go back to get it re-dyno'd. Likely i'll see a little something because the car holds the revs longer during acceleration in Sport+.

I would argue that if you have the cash an ECU will probably yield greater results, I just didn't fee l like going that route. Plus the benefit to this is that it's a 1 minute install and 1 minute removal.

I have a DS unit from my c300 (lease ending). 2 years old, No guarantees or warrantees but it was working when removed and was subsequently checked and validated as good by DS. $150 anyone?

Any updates on whether there's going to be a different version coming out soon? I see that there's a non-sport version for C400/C43's so I'm wondering if I should just wait for that or pick one of these up?

Well let's put this in perspective. The GTS black is $700 US, and I haven't read any threads that it can deliver the numbers claimed for our cars yet. Definitely sounds promising but i'd say we need more information before saying it's a better option.

Does anyone know if it flashes your ECU? If it does then your warranty is basically gone. Plus it's definitely not as easily installed so that would be a pain to remove it every time you needed service.

Whereas with the Dinan we know what we are getting, plus it's cheap, and easily removed, but highly limited...

Pros and cons...

Fourth, and this is subjective, I feel far more torque, at an earlier stage, and effortless shifts.

Finally, it is a piggy back and inherently incapable of modifying your ECU.

Yes, it does cost $700, without the app, and no, I have no objective data.

Now, the guy who asked has the factual bases for my opinion.

I think you misunderstood my post, i'm not crapping on your opinion but like I said it all has to be put in perspective. If he's asking what's better then it's fair to list all the pros and cons. Not to mention there are plenty of other people reading this thread that probably want to see the basis for all of our collective opinions so they can decide what they want to buy.

Why do you feel the Dinan was worthless? Because of the small gains? Have you dyno'd the RaceChip yet?

Again, i'm not discouraging your opinion but trying to lay everything out there. There are plenty of people like me on the fence between the Dinan, Burger, and RaceChip products but so far i'm one of the few people to post a real world dyno so it's tough to commit to something else and pony up the cash with a lack of info out there.

Nah that's incorrect, you're just overly sensitive and manufacturing drama. Besides, I don't need luck, I have google.
