auto start-stop a pain?

Whats your opinion on auto start-stop functionality? the small thud/jerk feeling when it starts back up is kinda annoying.

There's a huge topic on here somewhere about this, fill your boots on all the negative posts via a quick search. You can use it or turn it off (not permanently) but if you use it, you'll have to put up with the fact the car jerks as you're using a combustion engine.

I hated the engine ECO auto start-stop on my 2015 C300, sometimes the restart was very rough. On my C450 with the V6 though, the restart is much smoother and actually bearable.

MidCity makes a module that lets the car "remember" your last auto start setting (and Agility setting).

My autostart is very smooth actually (it was smooth on my 2015 also to be fair). Initially I hated it but I forced myself to get used to it. The only time I turn it off is if i'm in the city (NYC) driving or in a situation where having the engine stop while feathering the gas to make a turn would be detrimental. If it's jerking maybe you should mention it to your dealer.

The C400 is seamless, perhaps it's because of the V6.

I've been wondering if a Simple Delay circuit like this could be wired into the Auto Start/Stop button so that it automatically just turns itself off.

Price for these devices seems to be less than $10. Any electronics guys on here??

If I'm in traffic that is inching along with frequent stop and go (quite common in the DC area), I just turn it off. I really don't even notice it otherwise. Not a big deal on any level to me.

Compared to other cars I've driven with this feature, my C43 is quite good, starts very quickly and with very little jerkiness or lag.

I can live with it assuming I'm not in Sport + or simply turn it off on comfort.

Smoother on 2017?

I had my car in the shop for a while and got a 2017 c300 as a service loaner. Maybe it's just in my head but the auto stop/start 2017 was significantly smoother than my 2015.
Anyone else experience this?
