C300 Sport package with pano roof
Want to buy Garmin SD Card
New owner (within last 30 days) with my first MB. I have a 2016 C300 Sport with option 355 SD-Card Navigation pre-wiring, and I'd like to add Navi.
If I go on ebay, what am I looking for? There are many that require Audio 20 and I don't think I have that (but I'm not sure).
How do I figure out what to get? Is there a MB part number I can look for?
Thanks for any help!

If you have a C300 (or W205 in General) without the COMAND package (as in, if you press Navi on the car it will say "No SD Card Insterted") you have Audio 20. You can buy any SD card on eBay that fits Audio 20 C-Class (be careful not to buy the CLA SD card) just be warned that a lot of them (99%) are not eligible for updates for some reason. I purchased one for $180 and it worked fine, I just was not able to use the MB app to download the latest maps. It's fine for my needs and it has the 2016 maps (not 2017) but I can't complain too much considering it was about $400 cheaper.

Yes alyshehata, that is exactly what happens when I push Navi, so I do have Audio 20. Thank you for the help and good advice in shopping for a SD card!

I, too, bought the SD card from eBay. I paid $225 for it. The part number for W205 (and I believe for X253 GLC) is A213 906 27 04, which I inquired from a MB dealer. It seems that the latest version is still Version 5.2 (Map 5.0) for W205, even though Version 6 has been available for other models. The SD card came in a sealed anti-static bag and appeared to be authentic. Just insert it into the SD card slot, confirm to "marry" the SD card to your vehicle, and it works right away.
The Map Pilot generally works the same manner as regular Garmin units. One problem I have encountered is that, every time I remove the card from the slot, all the saved destinations disappear. However, according to this MB video
, those addresses should still be there. Does anyone else have this problem and/or know how to keep those "favorites" saved?
Also, in Garmin Nuvi units, those favorites are saved in a file named current.gpx, which you can copy to another Nuvi unit without re-entering all the addresses. I could not find this file name in the SD card, and it did not help even if I copy the current.gpx file to the SD card anyway. Does anyone know how to transfer Nuvi "favorites" to Map Pilot?
Another observation is that Map Pilot seems to have very limited street numbers and is particular about it. For example, if you enter 613 Main Street and the 613 street number is not in its database, it would provide a few numbers which it does have and ask you to choose one. It would not start navigation based on a range, says 600 to 700 block. I did not have this issue in all Garmin units I owned. The strangest part is that the same street number which was not found in the SD Map Pilot is valid in a Garmin unit that I purchased 7 years ago (and that address has existed since decades ago). This situation happened quite often and can be frustrating because I am forced to save my contacts with incorrect address.

Well the Mercedes Nav actually only comes with the COMAND package which is a little pricey. I have Garmin and my guess is the Mercedes one might be a little bit better. Also the Mercedes NAV comes with 3 years free update but the garmin one only comes with 3 months (if you buy from eBay most of the time it doesn't let you update even within the first 3 months)

I like Garmin SD map, the interface is easy to follow like Google map with lane assist telling you take which lane to exit. Garmin comes with 6 months free traffic. Command comes with 5 years free traffic. traffic is like 50$ a year. you can also send your destination from phone to command but not on Garmin map. but you can get Garmin map under 500$ on eBay.

The one I purchased had a page with a vehicle lookup tool for compatibility, hope it helps with your question.

My version has the COMAND system, but no SD slot (slowly becoming more disillusioned about how indifferently specced some Mercs are for the money). I went and stupidly bought a Garmin SD card, automatically assuming I had a slot - all the reviews mention it; none of the ones I read indicated it was an extra. Anyway, can I use a USB SD card reader, or must it go into an SD slot?

The alternate system (Audio 20) has an option to be prewired for the SD reader for navi so I guess it's possible your car didn't get one.

You can buy a SD card on eBay. Anything new will be good as you can upgrade the map to the latest version within 60 days. Never buy an used one. The latest version will be v11.0 as of today on Garmin upgrade website.
