C450 Speedometer Red Outer LED Light

Hey guys, I have a '16 c450amg and when you start the car a series of red led lights surrounds the outside of the speedometer. Its the only time those lights are used or engaged from low to high. Is there a way to have them trail the speedometer needle while driving? Am I missing a setting? Would look pretty amazing to have them fully engaged while driving and much easier to monitor speed (other than the digital speedo function)

Appreciate any insight...

Those are controlled by the cruise control. Once you set the cruise control to a specific speed they should light up.

Ah, I see. I havent used the CC yet. Would be a much cooler feature if it followed the needle as your speed increased and decreased.

No way to do that (other than getting the Russians to hack your software of course ). They only light up during start and while using adaptive cruise control.

It is pretty cool though during start up IMHO

Yeah I've noticed it upon using CC. Not really sure what the point of it is.

It lets you see graphically that you have slowed down from your set speed. I like it.

There's two ways the lights are used in the cruise. When in Speed Limiter mode (LIM) they show as an arc (i.e. speed range) up to the maximum speed set in the limiter.

In Distrtronic (DTR) they show you the speed deviation from the set speed limit, which is determined from the radar and by the car in front which is making you go slower. If you're travelling at the set speed you should just see one spot light up.

Oh right. Now I get it. Didn't make sense at first as I don't have adaptive cruise

c
there is a faint red light that trails the speedometer, but it may be associated from the light the needle is giving off rather than actually being illuminated like the ring is when using cruise control, etc.

If Distronic Plus detects a vehicle in front of you, the segments between your stored speed setting and speed of the vehicle in front light up. I guess it can be useful to know how fast the car you're approaching is going.
