My first Mercedes!
Hi everyone. I'm eagerly awaiting delivery of my first MB on the 1st march, having been a BMW man for a while. I've plumped for a c250d AMG line premium plus in polar white with 19's. I just wondered if anyone could reccomend a PROVEN tuning chip? I've read very mixed reviews of some brands, ie. race chip amongst others. Thanks in advance!
Andy.

There is more evidence of unsuccessful chip tuning on this engine, i.e. it being maxed out from factory than successful notable results. Probably no coincidence....
IF I was looking to do anything with this motor it would be an ECU reflash from a reputable local provider with before and after dyno's twice the price of a plug and play but at least you know what you're getting for your money and have local support. I'd also be considering the potential impact to DPF etc if soot level controls are relaxed etc..
If you go tune, please be sure to share your experiences to help others..

Yeah that's pretty much what I've gathered from various reviews and forums. I won't be going down the remap/ flash route due to the warrenty with it being brand new. Thanks though.

The car drives great. The features are awesome as well. Burmester sound system is a major upgrade over the stock sound system (I tried both before purchasing) so I hope you got it.
The only downside is how the engine sounds. Could have been better.

Yeah, I've read about the engine noise. I've got the Burmaster system as part of the premium plus package. I really wanted the artico dash but it was going to push my delivery date back too far! Glad you're enjoying it.

Nice choice. I got my C250d AMG line Premium Plus Coupe (white with night pack)in Nov 16, just hitting 7,000 miles just now. You get used to the engine noise and it ain't that bad. MPG is ok, roughly 50mpg / 650 miles to the tank. Power is good for 2.1 diesel, big difference between comfort & sport +. Airmatic suspension was definitely worth the £££'s when on 19" rims. Just need to get rid of the run flats.... Enjoy !!

Yeah, I found a gorgeous C in my colors that I loved everything about but the ride (Sport steel).
I had to wait 3 months for a custom build since there were zero cars in the US with Air plus leather. Worth it though.
I'm on 18" Michelin Pilot Supersports and I run them a bit under on PSI, with AirMatic on "Sport". Makes my AirMatic C ride and a lot like my old S Classes, although the C handles better.
The Burmester is a step up from the A20 in the same way venereal warts are a step up from herpes. Great, but I'd rather not have either if I can help it. My goal was to get it to play full, clean and balanced at a volume great enough to overcome the engine, wind and road noise. (There's a link to a write up in my sig).

I was also excited as I did the same move - from Audi A4 B8 to C class.
After 1500 km drove I have my opinion.
Let say this way - there is some differences.
I have (still) A4 which is 2010 2.0 tdi 120PS (basic engine here in France) with basic equip. So one thing I can say is that it is really good car. I mean material etc.
I was in front of question: what will be next car? By accident I found C class - c200d amg line with 7Gtronic plus (1.6 diesel from Renault?!? yes I was surprised too).
Differences:
- C class is louder compare to A4 - again A4 pure basic option. By louder I mean you can hear much more from outside like wind noises etc. This part is better in A4.
- audio - I have A20 no Burmester in C class and basic audio in A4 - I do not know who did a design of A20 but old basic audio in A4 is much better then A20 in C class - in A4 I have 8" in front doors, 6,5" in rear door plus tweeters on dashboard. There is a huge difference compare to C class A20 - 6.5" and 4 x 4" in doors. You really can hear difference.
- 7Gtronic plus - this is something which I am still learning - famous jerk etc. I know that it is better when gearbox is warm. A4 is manual and I was driving automatic before - but still I was expecting something smoother the what C class gearbox is showing.
- I love C class interior with AMG line - even I have MBtex not leather, it looks cool
- rear view camera plus other futures like audio streaming - something what is extra paid in Audi
- LED lights - my A4 have H7 halogen and it is big different in plus
- Park assist - tried once

So I bought my C class with 25000 km already drove so I couldn't choose all options. But I really like design of C class compare to Audi (even new models), driving - similar to A4. I decided to try C class and to compare to Audi. I knew that there will be differences and I can see them but generally you will be happy as I am

Thanks for the information. It will be interesting to see how it compares to the a4. I'm currently driving a 163ps manual and I'm going to the 170ps automatic which is my first ever automatic. The interior of the Mercedes just looks and feels much more classy than the a4 or the 3 series in my opinion.
