Kia's are crap. Great car for the money, but you can tell/feel the cheapness about them.

That being said, I think MB is crap. More specifically, I think anything under the c450 is crap. I've driven a few c300's (one legit "for sale" car and 3 loaners) and I feel like they are cheap and terribly built. I would never pay the amount of money they were asking form them. I get back into my 450 and instantly understand why MB is who they are. It's a night and day better car over the lower models. Sorry, just being honest.

If I was shopping for a more entry level "luxury" vehicle, I would have definitely gone Audi or Bimmer over the Benz.

I'd rather eat kimchi (which I find nauseating) so, NO.

This is a Mercedes forum, not a crap in a can forum or a cooking channel.

Yes, Sean, I agree, and the MB 4 is crap in a can, too.

I used to own a well equipped 2015 C300 4Matic Sport, and I felt no difference in overall "quality" between my old C300 and my current C450. The only option difference between the two was my C450 has Distronic, and to this date, both cars have been back for minor warranty work about the same number of times.

As a matter of fact, the interior on my old C300 had less interior squeaks and such.

Creaks and squeaks aside, I'm talking about the quality of materials used.

I guess you can option out a 300 to be on par with the 450 and up but then you're paying $55k for a 4 cylinder car. Yikes and no thank you.

The "MB 4"? As in the 450/43?

Ya, it's not CLS (obviously), but I think it's a good value for the money. What I'm getting at is that I don't think the 300/250/etc are good value's for the money. I'd rather buy a Mazda at that point. I got the 450 mainly for the motor and transmission, not the badge on the front.

If things go according to plan, my next lease is a CLS63. Now THAT is a Mercedes

Hey Sean.
I agree $55K C300 is too overpriced.
Max price for C300 should be around $47K.
I'm too going with a next gen CLS for sure on my next
car. One thing that bothers me tough is that
I hate to lease my cars and for car like
CLS lease is the way to go.
Maybe not a AMG tough.

Sorry-the 450 is a monster! I mean the four cylinder piece of kimchi engine, which ruins the c300.

It's not like MB throws in a bunch of special equipment, interior trim or interior materials as standard in the 450 that are extra cost options in the 300 Sport. I think maybe the 450 got one of the optional $325 wood trims as standard and optional red seatbelts.

Otherwise both the C300 Sport/C450 interiors came standard with the same faux leather, tiny 7" infotainment screen, no navi, no multimedia, no Burmester, etc. You could find (or build) stripper versions of either car.

The spread in base price between a 300 Sport and 450 was almost all about the mechanicals, not equipment level, options or interior materials.

One thing unique about the 450 vs the 300 was the choice of two additional optional Nappa leather packages for the 450. If your 450 was built with either of those then yeah, it's nicer inside than any 300. Otherwise, nothing special about a 450 interior. Just depends on how the two cars were optioned from the factory.

BTW, the guys on the C63 forum are also *****ing about creaks and rattles, and they spent real money on their cars.

so far no creaks and rattles on my 63s and it sat almost a year at the dealer lot new with 40+ miles on it.

Good to hear. I really loved the C63, but I wasn't ready to pay S Class money for one out of the gate. I knew I would like the engine (duh). It was the rest of the car that concerned me. I have a 3 year lease on a 300 as a test case. I figured if I liked the 300, all things being equal I'd love the 63. On the other hand, if the 300 disappointed in general, no amount of horsepower or exhaust note would fix that. The 300 also let me try all of the options so if I built a 63 I'd know what I could live without (because I'd want to be pretty judicious with options in the 63 given the base cost, whereas with the 300 build I just kept checking boxes until I was out of boxes, and it was still under $60k.)

Completely agree. The materials and quality are pretty much identical.

Is it worth paying 55k or whatever for a "turbo 4" is another topic.

Attn: Fellow greedy Americans

I see some of you guys complaining
oh not paying $55K for ****ing 4cyl.
You guys are really lucky that cars in
America is dirt cheap compared to other countries
in the world.

For example in South Korea.
Where cars are considered not expensive compared to other countries.
Heck you can't even ****ing by a C-Class for 55k
the lowest trim C-Class which is C180 or C200 starts at $60K.

I'm not joking when I went to Mercedes-Benz to see what cars
I could get for $50K...
Only cars I was able to get was A-class, B-Class, CLA200D (horrible engine) and the stripped out GLA 220d.

I heard in Australlia, China and some euro countries the prices are way higher than in Korea.

So yes... cars here whatever the car it is
is not overpriced.
But one thing overpriced in America is service fees....

Lol
the most bad-*** car
my family (my dad) has ever owned
was I have to say 2006 CLS 55 AMG
with a designo pkg black on black.
It looked epic.
Also ironically very reliable.
200K Km on the clock and car still drive new.
Still in my parent's place.

Yeah the pure AMG cars are really something. True beasts in every sense of the word. Not super practical as far as upkeep costs and even basic maintenance could get astronomical on them, but really over-built and all business.

Now, they stick the name on everything. My C300 has high performance AMG floor mats. I'm pretty sure Smart For Two will have a smoking hot AMG model before too long. Then those guys can make fun of the guys with the non AMG Smart For Twos.

LOL I remember Smart made a brabus version.

Yeah the our CLS very luckily didn't break so
other than maintanence the car was good.
That maintanance was what it really can scare some.
Especially that ceramic brake and performance tires.

Yeah, a couple of $6,000 brake jobs can really ruin the ownership experience. The CLS 55 got a supercharged 5 liter right? I can't keep the engines straight.
