ELITE is just the designation we use for the our bigger (more inputs) and factory matching warranty version of our DINANTRONICS systems. While the SPORT unit is a basic boost controller the ELITE unit will tie out to a more substantial system with control over additional inputs/systems. With more control we will also offer the factory matching warranty that Dinan is synonymous with.

What does your development timeline look like for the V6TT ELITE unit? Was planning to get an ECU tune next week but might wait and see if you have something currently in the works.

Rough guess--- couple months. Lots of potential factors could effect it one way or another though so in reality its a bit early to pinpoint a date. The hardware is basically all worked out though as it would be using the same components (more or less) from the C63 kit that is being finalized now. So its really just the software end of it and doing validation in its many forms to make sure its as bulletproof as we like it.

The ELITE app is a glorified on/off switch since there are no stages involved with the MB unit. User adjustability and factory matching warranty don't exactly mesh well as we don't want to be liable for a user doing something dumb that we don't have control over. As an example lets say we give even real basic control like the SPORT app gives and the user decides they want to save money and only fill up with 87 octane for a year but then also runs the ELITE unit in its max setting where by its constantly detonating leading to premature engine failure. A 20k+ engine not something we think we should be on the hook for. The only way to guarantee something like that to not happen is to remove that possibility.

The SPORT app is going to be getting a relative overhaul in the future (about time). Saw a BETA version of the Android variant yesterday and it seems to be better although it is still in BETA/being developed so I am reserving judgement to some extent.

Dinan will need to chime in here, but I recall on my BMW when I had their "elite" tuner it was 3 or 4 sensors and it took a couple hours. Not sure which ones they will be going to on our cars, but I would expect something similar.

Good to hear. In general terms (may vary a bit on MB for all we know) the ELITE unit offers about a 15-20% increase in power via the additional inputs. That said on a turbo car the bulk of power is derived from boost so SPORT gets you most of the way there in terms of sheer power since it manipulates boost. The ELITE unit will have more control over other inputs though so it tends to be more "polished" for lack of a better descriptor.

Usually the question is will warranty be intact if I install myself so I will answer the question in that regard. Warranty will be intact whether it is installed by a dealer or by the end user. The caveat is that the labor will not be warranted/guranteed if self installed/installed by a non-dealer. This basically just means that if the installer eff's up the install and it causes a problem it would not be warranted (unless they are an authorized dealer). Pretty hard to do to be honest but as an example lets assume the unit was self-installed without disconnecting the battery and then managed short the wiring and fry the DME/ECU. Our warranty would not cover that.

As far as physical install--- as long as you have some basic understanding of the car and have basic hand tools anyone can physically perform the job. From what I have personally seen on the C63S at least (not sure how it would differ on the C43/C400) some of the input locations are a bit of a pain to get to so you have to remove some pieces to access them. At least on that car its not exactly for the squeamish.

The update isn't much from a visual perspective. Same very basic design simply moved to different screens within the app. That's fine as this isn't an app that you should need to be in very often.

However, the previous app was very buggy so I was hoping the update would resolve that. So far in my half a day with the updated app, it seems to be just as finicky as the previous version. As was the case before, sometimes my Dinan unit appears as a BT device to connect to and sometimes it doesn't. Also, when it does and I click on it, it then brings up a warning about obeying traffic laws, etc. I click ok and then go to select a driving mode and it says device not connected.

So I think we're in the same place with the app as before. Very basic interface (which again is fine for this app) and pretty buggy as far as being able to connect and make driving mode changes.

Will there be an ELITE for the 2.0L? I'd REALLY feel better if I had a warranty and the MB dealer installed it. I hate fighting with the dealer if something happens.

Probably, but we haven't seen a great uproar for its development like the 3.0L/4.0L so its a bit of a back burner item. We have quite a bit on our plate at present. =)
