C400 Back from Dinan...
#111
Hi guys, I'm the test C43.
I installed the second unit last night, everything went smoothly. The sensor location isn't hard to get to, I found it easiest to use a flathead screwdriver to pop the stock white clip which holds the connection in place.
Once the instructions/unit is released, I would recommend taking a look at the wrong connector they have ID (want to take a guess who installed it at the wrong connector?) to get familiar with the stock white clip that holds the connector locked.
The rest of the installation is pretty straight forward. I'll relocate the unit location to the recommended place probably this weekend.
In terms of the unit itself, the App located it right away. I've only driven it in Sport + (3PSI), haven't tried out the Race version (4PSI) yet. The car definitely feels more responsive.
My wife's car (C43 Coupe, I have the C43 Sedan) is coming in on the 20th. My plan is to switch cars for a day and see if we can spot the difference.
Feel free to ask questions.

Ok, got it.
My review: don't bother. The red light on the device came on, and it paired with my IPhone 7. Great, you say. Well, the app is cryptic at best, and nearly useless at worst. As for the performance, well, subjectively I feel nothing, and either on, or off, 50% or more of the crackle is gone.
It is obviously well made, and of high quality, but guys, your app is pure Dee ****e!
I'm setting boost to zero, and I'll leave it in place for now.

Race mode should be 4PSI, but the app should be in Sport + (3PSI) out of the box.

You're making me want to sell my Dinan unit before I even install it.

My point entirely.
I rolled the dice, and got snake eyes.
It's clearly a quality product, mated to a crap, app, that, subjectively, is very hard to appreciate.
I'll keep it since freeing the sensor connector is probably worth more than $300 of my time.
Before you ask, the engine cover simply snaps in place, so just gently lift it up.

Just drove about 30 city and highway miles, so here are my SUBJECTIVE opinions:
1. On the Butt Dyno, overall, I'd give it one butt since it's easy to install;
2. The app is worse than crap, in fact it is pure Dee, unadulterated ****e, and disconnects randomly, and often; a huge thumbs down, or sore butt;
3. The app showed boost pressure increases, but I felt nothing new in any mode, either Mercedes or Dinan, so thumbs down or a sore butt;
4. The Mercedes computer showed very slight mileage increases in all modes, even with zero indicated boost, so either it confused the computer or it does increase efficiency, but who knows, so I'll give it a horizontal thumb, or a neutral butt; and,
5. In any Mercedes S+ or Dinan mode, including zero boost, the crackle is largely gone, thus a thumbs down and a VERY sore butt.
Overall subjective score: a very chapped ***.
Subjectively, this is hardly a ringing endorsement, and I reckon it is a sore butt!

Wow that's not good to hear as while I agree the app isn't all that and needs an overhaul , I like the performance boost and it's definitely there in plus and race modes . Are you sure you have it to the right sensor ? Couple others I think had it connected to the wrong one , have you called them to ask any questions ?

Does yours randomly disconnect?
I used the sensor close to the front of the car, as you'll see in the photographs.
I'm convinced it's working, but ...snore.
Addendum: I did call, but got voicemail and no call back in three hours. Another sore butt?

Just checked all connections and went out for a five mile drive. Now, I get random negative boost numbers and disconnects. So, this, coupled with no phone support, now moves the rating, albeit SUBJECTIVE, to POS and a sore butt ne plus ultra!

i believe the sensor is in the center up

Nope. It's the one shown in the photo, up front.
The wrong sensor is near the firewall.
Do you have the chip, or are you speculating?
Mine is connected at the green area, not red, as shown here: http://files.dinancars.com/webresour...0ddf4b216a.pdf
There is only ONE sensor in the green square, and unless you hold your mouth just right, you can't access it. That's how I know I'm right.
