I've been trying to swap my standrad grille over but been confused by the confusing PDF instructions.

Most is OK and I've made my way round the lasck of info but I'm stuck on removing the front splash shield.

I have a fixed bracket at the back of the front splash guard which isnt easily removed ?

I've circled it in the picture below,

Msytery clamp Ptr No. A 213 628 12 00

I've also got a picture under the car to show it in more detail,

Any advise from those who have made the grille swap as to how to remove this clamp ? ... it doesnt seem obvious to remove to me.
Thanks all,

I didn't find that clamp on mine.Shield is secured only with bolts. There's 4 bolts holding the 2 shields on top of each other.

Bummer ... perhaps its a year/model thingy

2017 W205 C-Class 220d 4Matic

I'll have to ask the dealer ... which I was trying to avoid as they warned me off changing the grille or comprimising my warranty.

Did you remove all the other bolts and the shield doesn't drop down?

Took 9 bolts out the front shield in total, and it moves about an inch forward into the lower spoiler recess .... but the clamp holds it captive and I can't remove it.

When i took mine out i had to remove the second metalic shield in order to take out the plastic shield.Maybe it will be better if you do the same.
I lost more time trying to cut corners and trying to push in the plastic shield without droping the metal shield first. In the end i removed both.

Must be a year/model thing as I don't have a metal shield. I have what's on the w205 how to remove splash shield layout.

I have a ribbed front plastic shield and then a mid car positioned plastic shield, but the clamp in my pictures hold both in place. I could wrestle the front shield out past the mid position shield if the clamp could be removed.

I don't have access to an EPC ... anyone got a diagram of that part would be helpful to see if it's sprung loaded or just bolted in behind a plastic cap or something.

On mine the mid shield is metal and is sitting on top of the plastic one so i had to drop it first.

I did mine a year ago at night by myself; not sure my memory still correct or not.
If I recall correctly, that "clamp" is just let the shield slides in place properly. Once all the bolts on the front and mid shield are removed, you just need to slide the front shield forward to drop it. I guess you didn't slide it forward enough to drop it.
Hope it helps!

I could try again this weekend with a bit more force ... did you disconnect your battery before removing the plug and bumper?
