Can I cut this?

I have this pink sponge between my screen.
Its hanging and is visible from outside.
Can I remove it?

It's the emergency windscreen release. If you pull it out the windscreen does a James Bond ejector seat impression.

seriously, it could be anything, just remove it or tuck it away.

Probably shipping protection that wasn't completely removed at prep. But it might be keeping the screen from rattling.

Looks to me like sound deadening material. I wouldn't pull it. Try to tuck it back inside or use an X-acto knife and carefully cut it.

Ha ha! Good one. As if Mercedes put any sound deadening material in the C Class. It looks to me like a remnant of the protective shipping material that got missed during prep.
