Is folding cargo box standard?
In my new 2016 C300, I found the folding plastic cargo box in the trunk. Is this standard? Or a freebie from the dealer? Do I need to turn it in when my lease concludes?

Not the comfort box. But the collapsible crate - http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-GENUINE-...-/291930203498

We use ours for our walking boots to stop the mud going everywhere. I thought it was a cheap gimmick but it has turned out to be quite handy. Not as handy though as a spare wheel under the cover.

No. I'm someone who doesn't want to keep what is not rightfully theirs. But if it is mine, I find it particularly useful. At present the crate is in my BMW, and I would like to keep it.

Makes total sense.

I want to know if the crate is part of the car to be returned. For all I know, Benz includes it as a freebie. Or even the dealer. That is why I asked if others received it. The dealer also gave me a key chain. Does that need to be returned? It was also filled with gas. Do I need to refill that as well?
As I understand it, Mercedes requires that the lease be returned with ANY ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT? Anything other than that belongs to me. I can leave it in the car or not. And I plan on returning the car with the minimum amount of gas, not washing it, and without new tires. Benz has a nice disposition fee to take all that into account. If I use a band aid from the First Aid kit, do I need to replace that?
So for whatever you think of me, I do want to keep the crate - ONLY IF I HAVE A RIGHT TO IT. Is it part of the car's original equipment? Or a separate accessory?
Personally for what is posted, I'm tending to think that it's a grey area. Sort of like the extra screws for the license plate, leather key cover that I used to get with another car etc. Included with all cars as standard (and sometimes gone missing before delivery), that the returning dealer won't question. I will be including mine.

I paid for mine as a part of the interior package for my GLC. It is a part of the car. It even has a storage place for it when it is folded up in the boot where the spare would normally go.

And under it in its allocated space is an unused void. The only problem with that is the the carpet and then the tray has to be lifted to use that space.

MBUSA still lists this as a $30 accessory on their 2017 build configuration page. It would be my opinion that if this is not broken out anywhere on your window sticker it was a free bone they tossed in for you.
Collapsible Shopping Crate
$30
The collapsible shopping crate functions as a versatile and practical transport and stowage facility.
When not in use, it can simply be folded flat and stowed away. Simple for the customer to fit.
