Corrosion on engine cover

I noticed some corrosion on the engine cover. Then I removed the plastics over the engine and found even more. Is this normal?

Yes, it's normal if the material is aluminum...which I believe most of the engine is made of.

Aluminum is prone to corrosion. Keep in mind though aluminum corrosion is aluminum oxide, a very hard material that actually protects the aluminum from further corrosion.
