I don't understand the collective circle jerk over this stuff. To be fair, I've never used it so maybe I'm not qualified to comment on it, but why is this such a big deal?
Now that it's so nice out, I've been cruising with the windows down and just listening to my exhaust. Tis music to my ears

The crazy part is that Ford (and sister companies) are making much, MUCH better cars than they were 5 years ago.

I have the redigned Malibu , it's beautiful in so many ways ( hardly drive the c anymore) it's got android auto which I find so much better than car play
engine has no power So much that people quickly pass me over in the city lol
the winning factor is how well it absorbs the potholes in the city , i drive it without freaking out every single second.

i was very impressed with the CTS rental i had last year. fit and finish was a little lacking, but overall i was pleased.......just not $60k pleased.
also had a chance to drive a grand cherokee SRT-8. holy smokes! you guys gotta punch the gas all the way on this thing. Absolutelly SAVAGE car. Intoxicating exhaust note!

True. Overall Ford and GM (forget Chrysler) are building better cars, but their bread and butter is and apparently always will be trucks. It's the only segment where they're really competitive against the Asian brands.
Stand alone, the Malibu is a fine choice. But the Mazda 6 is too, looks sexy, handles a bit better and feels like it's better built. I can't make a rational argument for paying $60k for a C Class, or $100k for an S Class for that matter, but there is something intangible about owing and driving a Benz that will never show up on a spreadsheet.

I think the only possible way I would get an American made vehicle is if I needed a diesel truck. Even a gas truck, I would choose Toyota over American. They have stepped it up a few notches the past few years like I said, but they were so far behind before the fact that they're still utter crap.

I wanted something safe for my daughter so I started with the NIHS ratings and worked backwards. There were several choices in the compact range but I ended up at a Mazda3 with the safety suite (autonomous braking, lane departure warning, speed limit sign recognition with over speed warning, adaptive cruise, etc.) The way Mazda puts its packages together I had to buy all of them.
So the interior is very nice. Not C Class nice in terms of design, but attractive and good materials. The perforated leather in the Mazda is nicer. The audio is better. The HUD has actual sign recognition in full color. It's $30k all in.
Other than that, it drives like a compact FWD car.

I drove a top spec Mazda 6 a few weeks ago and although it's a good ride it still feels a few steps behind MB. The are broader use of hard plastic in the cabin, which I dislike so much. They japanese have issues when trying to renew their buttons, they all look the same as they did in the 80's. The hud are a glass or plastic pop-up and don't look nice at all, C class do show speed limit on the HUD in full color. And the Bose in the Mazda stinks, my wifes audio in a 10 year old A4 sounds better, Audi concert, it's not even Bose. Mazda is a good looking car and the ride is OK, but it lacks a feeling when I get into it. Every car I buy are based on feelings, I want to dress it, its not a freakin fish bowl.

The premium audio in the Mazda3 (by Bose) is better sounding out of the box than the Burmester in the C. They put actual 6" woofers in the 3. None of this "Frontbass" nonsense.
Had the Burmester been anywhere near as good I wouldn't have spent $4k tearing it out and upgrading it. Mercedes had always been stingy with audio. The HK system in the 221 S Class was absolutely horrible as well.

but for arguments sakes, lets compare cars in the same price range.
take a fully loaded mazda 3 vs a bone stock cla 250. Both should be around same ballpark in terms of price.
has any of you driven a bone stock cla250?
i did, and it's a piece of junk. that is the onyl way to describe the cla. absolute piece of manure.
interior feels cheap, center console is a joke, it just does not feel like a benz in any way shape or form.
now c class is a different story. it's a $45k base car

I'm not sure why so many people are nut-hugging the android auto and carplay.
Rented an expedition a few weeks ago, tried the android auto, it was glitchy. I'm not impressed.
As far as command goes. It has very good voice recognition for a vehicle based system.
