Backup camera stopped working
My backup camera stopped working. It was working few minutes back at the shopping mall. The display does not change when I put the reverse gear. The camera is not opening. I checked the system settings and the option activate rear view camera is checked. Any idea?

Run your finger under the trunk lip and see if there is any obstruction. If you find none, call the dealer and schedule a visit.

Mikey, I am able to open the camera under the system settings and no obstruction under the lid lip. So no obstruction. Will call dealer.

Mine had the same fault but intermittently. Worked fine all winter but in summer here in Australia it would often stick after driving a short time. The dealer did not really help much because they could not reproduce the fault, it took several service visits and finally a video to prove the fault existed. They replaced the camera but its still winter here so I am not sure if its fixed but live in hope

Thanks for the info. I scheduled an appointment this Friday. Let's see what they tell.
I am able to open/closet camera from the system settings. But it does not open when I shift to reverse gear. Hoping some malfunction with camera and covered under warranty . Just last month I spent 1k on the door. Not in a position to spend any more money.

Backup camera stopped working. 2016 C300 is still under warranty. MBUSA covered cost of part but dealer charged for labor claiming the license plate frame I installed was a hair thicker than the dealer frame they installed and that was causing the camera flap not to open properly. Has anyone heard of this? I see college alumni license plate frames on hundreds of cars!

My reverse camera did not come out from under the lid for the last 2 months. This morning i noticed when i went in the parking lot the the camera is out. Now it doesn't go in. Week in week out this car visits the garage for different problems. It is by far the worst car i have ever encountered. Camera, sensors, inside display, collision brake assistance...you name it...
i regret i sold my Honda...

My camera stopped working today out of the blue.
When going into the system settings menu I can manually open the camera for cleaning but the camera will not open when putting car in reverse.
Owned the car for less then a year and seems to have never ending problems... gas door malfunction, wrist pin issue, oil level sensor, front axles, climate control unit and now backup camera.

So, I dont know what it is, but all of a sudden when the hot weather has come and the camera started working 100% of the time.
In the winter, would work less then 50% of the time.
How/Why would the temperature affect a camera?
Any ideas?

Check the wiring loom around the trunk hinge, remove the black plastic cover and check for broken wires. There is not enough slack in the loom and wires snap. Check here also for faults to number plate lights and boot/trunk not opening. If your problem is heat related, remember metal (copper) will contract in the winter and expand in the summer. I found 4 broken wires in my loom.

Solved
So guys I had this very same issue with the rear camera that would not open, and I thought very hard about this and managed to get it to work again. My thinking was the rear camera was not being triggered when placed in reverse, so I reset the gearbox and this in turn reset the trigger for the reverse and then the camera worked.

Just noticed a weird behaviour today when driving my car. Whenever I slowed down to less than 20 km/h, the camera would pop out. When I speed up pass 20 km/h, it retracts. Happens when the car is in drive. When put into park, the camera retracts.
