Active Parking Assist

Just checked the ordering guide (Canada) of 2018 C Class, apparently they dropped the word "Parktronic", the feature is now called "Active Parking Assist".

For perpendicular parking, can I position my car in front of the parking space and activate the feature so it would back up into the space perfectly between 2 cars?

Thanks. Typically, I do not need sensors to find a parking space in a parking lot (perpendicular parking). I read that the Parkign Assist can be slow and it would speed it up if I manually position the car in front of the space. It would be helpful if the car can backup perfectly straight and equidistant between the 2 cars.

What if there are no car? Can it park between the 2 lines?

It requires 2 cars as a reference to park between. The sensors cannot detect any lines.
It was a standard option on my car and i used it a couple of times (to get it in tight spots) but i prefer to park the car manually because I can place the car where i want it to be.
To me it is still a gadget.

Apparently, Parktronics in the new E Class can automatically drive the car out from a parking spot (parallel parked). Too bad this is not available in 2018 C Coupe yet.

Can Parktronics help to prevent curb rash? Or can I rely on the 360 camera?

The camera is your friend.
Btw I entered my vin into the euro Mercedes site and it told me I was eligible to turn on the remote park feature.
Just thought that was interesting.

Remote parking? Meaning when you are not in the car?

I wonder if the C Coupe driving assistance software can be updated to be on par with the new E Coupe (like driving out of a parking space).......

At some point, I believe so.
