Losing power over time?

I think my 2015 C300 which has ~37k miles on it has less power than it used to.

Today, when I brought my car in for service and got a C300 loaner (which is basically new) I immediately noticed that it had noticeably more pick up and stronger acceleration.

How much more? Hard to say, but I think it's the type of thing someone who drives the same car daily 40 miles a day would notice but not, say, someone else. At least not yet.

Is this something that is expected as a car gets older (a gradual loss in power) at this point in time (~37k miles)? Is it possible my car is suffering from carbon build up on the valves like many direct injection gasoline engines do?

It's likely what you're experiencing is simply adaptation

What do you mean exactly by adaptation?

What he is saying is that since you own the car and drive it so much, you have gotten used to the power. Since you are used to the power, it is not as exciting as it was when you first got the car, therefore, "feels slower". I would recommend getting a tune to spice it up

I've experienced the same thing and posted about it in another thread, only mine is at 14k miles. Will be bringing it up to the dealer as part of a list of warranty things I need done this wednesday.

its a valid point but not what adaptation means.

Adaptation is where the car learns your style and adapts throttle response and shift points to accommodate your style of driving.

you often find loaners feel faster because they've been thrashed and the adaptation moves to provide an earlier throttle response and torque curve.

Isn't there a way to reset the computer so it starts learning the driving habits from scratch?

Yes, unplug the battery, let it sit for 15 mins and then plug it back in. This will reset the ECU.

Is there a better way? For my old CLK320, I can reset this this way:

http://www.mercedesmedic.com/reset-m...-instructions/

Unplug the battery will remove all the settings, right?
