C63S Performance Catback on C400

Hey guys.

First of all, thank you Guilty for a sweet *** deal on a full catback off of your 2016 C63S. Your price was amazing and shipping was also very quick.

Okay, so I got a full catback exhaust off of a 2016 C63S from a forum member Guilty recently and just got them installed today on my C400. Before I got the exhaust, I searched photos of the underneath view of both C63 and C400 and realized that both exhaust system actually looked alike so I was assuming it could be a simple bolt on and off deal. I took the exhaust to the exhaust shop and then realized that some modifications were necessary to make everything fit and work. I have attached a few pictures of where the technician had to cut and where I had to use a long prybar to bend the heat shield around the gas tank.

As you all know, the C63S performance catback has valves that opens and closes by a push of a button inside of the vehicle. My C400 doesn't have that and when I received the catback, all valves were in open position so I thought they would remain open. The valves on both mufflers, which I have circled in red, did stay open and didn't make any noises. However, there was another valve at the H pipe, which actually opened itself as I was driving the car home after everything was done, caused weird rattling noises so I had to head back to the shop. With all 3 valves open, it sounded pretty obnoxious for C400. It kind of made the car sound cheap, which I didn't like. So when I went back to the shop, I had them close all the valves and weld them. Now, the car sounds a lot better, more like a performance car instead of a ricer.

As far as the pipes, the dual pipe one is the one that came from a C63. I had to have the front of the pipe off of my C400 exhaust cut off and have that welded onto the C63 pipe because the angle where the exhaust meets the downpipe was different, which I have pictures of both pipes where I had them cut.

Many of you might not find this thread helpful because it is very rare and hard to find a full performance catback off of a C63. When I was researching around, there were a couple of videos on youtube for W204s but nothing for W205s. So I'm hoping that this thread becomes helpful for someone like me, who are lucky to find a full catback off of a C63 and wonders if it will even work, which I had no idea even after I bought it.

Enjoy!

And I'm very jealous! especially that crackle/backfire. And the front is pretty easy but the rear is still a bit of a headache because of the offset.

Thanks! you'll enjoy it, whichever exhaust you go with. It changes the character of the c400 so much, which it should've been like this with the exhaust to begin with

Hi. I was lucky to find a forum member on this forum selling his c63s performance catback. Good luck on your search! it will take awhile because mercedes only offers it when you're custom ordering a car.

Is the exhaust from the C63 the same length and diameter?
