Clicking and creaking air vents...

so since the weathers gone cooler here in the UK my driver and passengers air vents have started making an odd clicking and creaking sound, mechanical in nature as if flaps behind them are sticking as they move. If I change the temp setting up and down this immediately makes the noise from those outer vents.

anyone else had this? Was it a dealer fix?

Ive heard ticking before but this is now full on loud creaking and clicking.

I have the same thing I think. I noticed after driving for 20 minutes on the highway, when I came to a stop it would sound like the louvers in the dash were moving but sounded like old heavy doors. The dealer could not reproduce. I'm going to try to record it next time I hear it.

Same thing here but it only lasts for about 10 seconds. I'd rather live with it than have the dealer open the dash and get even more rattles from other place. I like to think of it as my car saying hello to me on cold mornings, it's a feature not a bug

I think it's part of the start up functions of the system. Mine makes all sorts of little weird noises when I turn the car on.

I agree. It's probably normal. It only lasts for a short time. I think it's just the automatic climate control working to match the settings. I've heard it since I got the C400 over 3 years ago. It's consistent and hasn't changed.

It’s clearly not normal, because it hasn’t done it for the best part of two years, however it’s really started to Creek and click not just tiny little noises but audible over absolutely everything else in the car other than the hi-fi

Mine JUST went in for this. They said they reprogrammed something and it hasn't done it since.

Can you give some more details about what they reprogrammed, so I can tell my dealer, they claim to fix it with grease so I might be able to suggest it.
