c400 cracked windshield

Unfortunately had a rock or something crack my C400s windshield. I am going through my insurance company but am unclear on which options to check. I don't have heads up display or lane assist but am wondering if there is any other option that would call for "special" glass. Is there a way to tell if its "acoustic" glass or anything else?? I bought the car used so I don't have the window sticker and the print out they gave me is very confusing.

There's no such thing as 'acoustic glass' for the windscreen but there are still several different types depending on what options you have on your car. To get an accurate parts number for your vehicle config you'll need to visit or ring your dealer. They will input your VIN into the database and it'll show the correct part numbers. It's no doubt something that can be done over the phone if you get a willing dealership.

Alternatively, if you know your exact spec you can probably work it out yourself and then find relevant part number here:

It is safelite, but the automatic process through Geico was asking about a bunch of specs that it did not know. With the options I chose it ended up being $389

I also had my windshield crack from following a semi on the freeway. Anybody knows if the "OE" replacement is ok? I called a bunch of windows shops and they told me it's the same windshield that they put on Mercedes except that it does not have the logo or the carl benz signature. I might go with that route since it's cheaper for me instead of going with my insurance. Is there really a dffference between an OE and and OEM?

Thanks,
CB

What really? I had mine replaced about 6 months ago and they told me that there are no aftermarket windshields for MB cars. I went through my insurance and I got the windshield with the signature on it. You would also have to get your rain sensor recalibrated (recommended, but I don't think it's necessary). Total cost little over a grand for the whole thing.

My experience was similar. Be sure to buy the signature.

A gaggle of MB's
If you have a Leased Mercedes - replacement should always be MB windshield or you will be charged at the end of lease.

Certain Mercedes models - or models with special features like Head Up Display - there may be no aftermarket glass and you have to have MB windshield.

MB windshields have a MB logo/ID on the lower Driver's Corner - the Signature Decal on the lower Passenger Corner is available as a part purchased from Dealer Part's Dept - or purchase from eBay

Good info. My insurer paid for the decal, and the contractor placed it.

Gee .. tough audience. Anyhoo - the point was really that it isn't a sticker anymore. The current OEM windscreens have the signature printed onto the glass.
