Help Diagnose Loud Engine [video]
Are All C300's this loud? This doesn't sound at all normal to me as I can hear the engine idling from a block away. I am dropping the car off at the dealership on Monday and was hoping for a little feedback from the experts here prior to the appointment.

ENTIRELY NORMAL for a direct injection engine
you have a very quiet neighbourhood and amazing hearing if you can hear that ‘ a block away ‘
i note you take the video much closer than that tho.

Should try the diesel 
Difficult to tell from a video shot so close and especially since there's no reference. The actual engine tone doesn't seem abnormal though.
Is your disappointment based on a comparison to other cars? Just check it against another 4cyl W205 at a dealer.

I took the video up close to try to get some separation in the different sounds, so I can understand its difficult to get a reference volume level. The engine overall is just a lot louder than the past cars I've owned and I was surprised by it. Unfortunately there is also the internal rattle from the wrist pins going on, but you can't hear that without revving the engine a little bit. The build date is 2/15 so I'm not surprised.
I am dropping it off at the dealership Monday for the paint protect film installation and that will give me the chance to drive a brand-new C300 for a few days. It might be all in my head; I know that has happened before!

Mine is reallllly loud. Personally, my neighbor heard mine and asked if it was a diesel. These engines are noisy by nature due to DI. Coming from a naturally aspirated BMW I6, it took some time to get used to the noise. No worries.
