Garmin maps -Ebay W205
I am about to buy updated Garmin maps. (I cant update any more with MB download manager because my card is 16MB and not 32MB)
I can buy from the dealer updated maps 2016-2017 for EUR 189. (it is now end December 2017)
Or
I could buy from Ebay for about EUR 50 a version of 2017-2018.
Is it too good to be true?
Does anybody have good or bad experience with the Ebay SD card?

After more than two years experience with genuine Garmin on my MB, I could conclude that the Live Traffic of Garmin is actually "historical Live Traffic".
By far, it doesn't match the quality of Wayz or Google maps.
I realy don't understand why Garmin is so far behind the free navigations apps. (where is "the best or nothing?)
Their (Garmin-MB) main advantage is the big screen.
Therefore, I would wave the "Live Traffic" and go for Ebay SD.

So who do I pay the $3.00 per month to? Will a nice lady still talk to me? Gotta have the nice lady inter phase. My car is stock, base 2017 C300. Pre wired for SD card but no fancy radio. Small screen. I bought a 2017 loaner car with less than 9k miles on it for a $10k discount so I'm happy with it. Was very unhappy with the 2018 CLA250. It gave me a very sore back with the funny shaped seats and the car rode really rough. We had it a total of 200 miles

I am so used to my Garmin Pilot with lifetime maps and lifetime traffic. Like it very much. Only thing is, the screen now looks tiny compared to the screen on the C300. wish I could just get the service I'm used to with Garmin but on the MBZ screen and no dangling wire. Still wanting to know who collects the $3.99/mo. Does that mean I have to have Sirius radio? I don't think my car is ready for that.

yes, the Garmin lady talk to you about turning and saying the street name. on the car navagation Garmin screen, when you select live traffic, it will tell you the phone numbers to call and your navagation unit ID number.

That is very cool. I have a secret love affair with the Garmin lady. Will jump on it right away. I bought a card for the CLA250 we only kept for 5 days, 200 miles. I'll return it and get the one for the C300. Love Amazon Prime...and the Garmin lady.

Yesterday I installed the "Ebay Garmin SD" V.9 , in the car and it works. W205, May 2014.
My list favorites from the original Garmin Maps of 2015 remained, (it is probably be stored in the car device and not on the SD)
Also the Live Traffic works.
Today I have updated the SD to V. 10 (it took maybe 3.5h) and it works too.
Conclusion: the Ebay SD seems to be a good choice.

Thats good to know the eBay update map worked. Who did you buy from? I'd really like to update my 2015 C300. The maps and traffic have to be the worst of any map programs I have used yet. I drive 40,000 miles a year and cannot believe how many times the Garmin is wrong or takes me the long way vs. Waze or other map programs. Maybe a newer version will fix some of it's shortcomings.

The strong point of Garmin in my MB is the size of the screen.
Besides that, it is terribly outdated. The most recent update (V.10 2018) do not contain two major highway modifications that has been completed many months ago. (A9 and A1 around Amsterdam)

I was holding out for CarPlay until I had a loaner with it for a week. I quickly discovered I was pulling my phone out as much, if not more often, using CarPlay than I was just using it for music. Once I made that choice I purchased an SD-card from this same seller last week. The card updated and has been working well with live traffic.

The latest update is around 19.2 GB. The older 5.x cards were 16GB cards. The newer 8.x cards are 32GB. You need the larger card to update to the latest software and maps.
