Don't like engine stopping at stop lights
This seems like a silly feature on the part of MBZ. Engine turns off at stoplights. They sell this as a positive feature. I assume this was done as a means of increasing mpg for the feds. Seems silly. Reminds me of when E cars started in 2nd gear, back in the 70s. Is there a way to disable this? I know I can disable once I get going, but is there a way to have the car default to not do it and I can turn it on if I want?

If you asking about a "hack" - where the Eco Start/Stop does not come on when you start the car - there are ywo hacks I know of:
1. Mid City Engineering has a wire-in module that lets you deactivate auto/ECO and also allows you to select profile that you start up on..
2. on eBay - Vladimir from Belarus has a OBD plug-in module that allows you to default ECO off

vlads cure is working perfectly on my c450 after two years and worth every penny. The only problem is on start up a photo of Hillary pops up on command, with a diagonal line through her face.

That’s strange,?! Mine has a picture of a polar bear that flashes across the the comand screen when I hit the button... there is also a weird aroma that comes out of the vents when I push the button!! I’m going to email them to see if it’s a malfunction..

De ja vu, all over again
This subject was beaten to death in 2015. Many commenters were absolutely enraged. They couldn't live with this feature, and, in those days, there were no hacks. Some of those commenters seemed serious about planning to trade their new Mercedes in to avoid this minor feature! My conclusion was that this feature punctured their illusion that the car was an extension of their driving commands (and their personality). I commented at the time that "Ultimate Driving Machine" is the slogan of BMW, not Mercedes. So, if you want a car that the manufacturer actually intends to be really responsive to your wishes, get a BMW.
Yes, in Comfort or ECO modes, the C300 does start in 2nd gear. No, that can't be changed. Mama Mercedes knows what's best for you! Until a few years ago, my German wife had a home in Germany. So I lived in Germany for extended periods and talked with her friends about cars. In Germany (where the MB engineers and executives live!), not just C300s, but all sedans are family sedans. Even if a sedan is the hottest AMG version, nobody knows! It is "out" not to de-badge your car. The only way to let the world know that you drive a hot car is to buy an SL, or some such. That is the point of the CLS -- a hot E-Class. (Anyway, there really isn't any point to a hot car in Germany. You never see stoplight drag races or cutting in and out through traffic. They do achieve really high speeds on the autobahns. Are you ready for 200 KPS (124 MPH)? However, high horsepower isn't really necessary for that, only good handling and great tires. (So your rental car isn't ready for this. Your new Mercedes isn't ready for it either; there is still such a thing as break-in.)

Just wait, 2 more years and you won't have a steering wheel. If autonomous cars are so good, why don't they have autonomous trains and avoid the wrecks like Philly or Washington state? Trains only need to go and stop!
