I just had my right front LED repaired under warranty. The tech told me that water gets in and corrodes the fitting, which is what causes at least some of the problems. The bulb and connections were replaced and, so far, no new issues.

Defective part design from day 1
I've had 2 door lights replaced under warranty in 2 years, my friend has had believe it or not 8 !!!
Every time you report it, the garage pretends it's a unique fault, why do they think lying makes it better.
My friends car is now out of warranty and the dealer wanted £65 to run a diagnostic to then tell him what was wrong and how much to fix.
An irate email and phone call to MB Customer Service has at least got the diagnostic fee waived, shocking service.
He has a new car on order, guess what it's not a Mercedes.

My 2015 has the engine out right now for the wrist pin repair and 2 front axles. When I dropped it off I mentioned the 3 LED's I have out and the Service writer is going to take care of them after my engine gets reassembled and put back in. Geez now that I saw that in writing I'm thinking about how I feel about this car-anyway, he said the door LED's are very time consuming which leads me to believe the door panels have to come off making it a tedious nightmare. A redesign with updated part numbers to identify the new LED's would be the way to fix this. Just the pistons and wrist pins...Duh.

Hi, I posted a video here to help others diagnose. Its also on youtube. If your engine sounds like mine on the video- you got it too. I can tell you the 2018 loaner I have right now sounds NOTHING like my 15. Totally different sounding engine which leads me to now know the wrist pin issue is pretty easy to diagnose. BTW my car had almost 50000 miles on it and it was the same sound as others with less than half that mileage so I think the damage if any is confined to the piston and/or wrist pin-which is a good thing>>>
