50K mile 2015 C300 Wrist pin or no?

MBWorld Fanatic!
I received word on Saturday that the technician without a doubt recognized the clicking noises coming from my engine. They will be receiving all of the parts tomorrow and going to work on replacing the pistons. I’m definitely relieved that this issues is finally being taken care of under warranty but a bit anxious to see how the car drives. In the meantime, I’m enjoying my fully loaded E class .
Will keep you guys posted

Hey all, I just purchased a ‘15 C300 4M and I’m pretty certain it has wrist pin issue. I’ve read that it may and may not cause damage to cylinder walls. So what’s the verdict? My vehicle is under warranty till 2020 and I’m debating wether to do the fix or not. Was also wondering if anyone uses MB of Greenwich? How are their service techs there? Thx everyone, love the car by the way!!!

let me know what’s up, I’m curious. Mine runs great no lights. Just the harsh 19” wheels and run flats are my only issue but it’s liveable.

Wrist pin repAir
So I ended up having mine replaced. According to my dealer, the wrist pins that were installed allow for an increase in fuel economy and have no negative impact on the engine itself besides the noise. However enough have complained that it is a warranty covered issue. I got mine replaced and am definitely happy with the way the engine sounds now. It sounds exactly like the newer models, quiet, minimal knock. However, supposedly the newer pins will effect fuel economy, not sure how much but that’s the trade off supposedly. If you can, id have it done. Mercedes Benz of Music city did mine, the Tech had already done 4 vehicles prior to mine, 32 labor hours 😅 and who knows how many parts later I got an 8 page print out. Couldn’t fathom the cost.

I am the original poster for this post. I now have about 2000 miles since the wrist pin repair and the engine has gotten even better. A bit of gas pedal and the car is off and running. MPG are a tic under 30. Even paddle shifting it and driving like a bit of an idiot yields me 24+ mpg. Car remains quiet and performs a good as a 4 cylinder turbo can in my opinion. I would have no fear about getting the repair done OR I would bail and get something else.

Just picked up my car from Walnut Creek. The technician has done so many of these repairs that he is now able to finish in 18 working hours. They began the work on Tuesday and had the engine back in the car on Friday to begin testing. They also said that on 4matics, they are required to give the car an alignment. I am thoroughly impressed with how the car drives and sounds. I’ve put about 30 miles on the car so far and everything feels tight and literally brand new! Will continue monitoring for any issues during the break in period. Amazing service and job well done for the team at Mercedes of Walnut Creek.

Just PM’ed you AChan
Fyi, started the car while cold this morning and the engine sounded perfect. No clicking/clattering while decelerating either. Drove a good 50 miles since I’ve picked up the car. Couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out.

Dropped off my ‘15 C300 on Sat 3/31 for possible (most likely) wrist pin noise. Also have them doing 2 door handle lights and replacing wipers that were never replaced during certification process.

Dropped off car to Mercedes-Benz of Walnut Creek on Wednesday. Today got text that they have order the parts for wrist pin repair and will get ETA soon. Hopefully it will work out.

Pretty much same here....dropped it off Sunday. They confirmed wrist pin on Tuesday and ordered the parts. Tech told me should be ready in a week.

I actually had the wrist pin done back in August at Steven's Creek, but the clicking sound while decelerating was happening again and they say they don't hear anything abnormal.

My service advisor is Lawrence Maerina. I dropped off my car on 4/4/18 for engine wrist pin issue and fumes from engine coming into cabin plus other minor stuff. We got Rafael Orellana the Service Manager involved for fumes from engine and the car is still with the dealer. So over one month at the dealer!

I picked up the car yesterday from Mercedes of Walnut Creek with primary issues of wrist pin and fumes inside the cabin. Note a total of 38 days.
First I totally agree with Fshin88 "What a great crew to interact with! Service advisors are kind and courteous and employees greet you with a smile and hello." I would have to say the best experience with car dealership ever!
I drove the car home (San Francisco) and the engine sounds amazing! Still TBD on the fume issue but otherwise looks to be a happy ending.
