Which agility select mode do you drive in?

i know there were posts about this, but not recently. I've been driving in C, and then occasionally switching to Economy when in the highway. I've noticed some jerky / harsh gear down shifts in C / E. in terms of the drive and fuel economy, what mode offers the best compromise?

Ive read that the mpg on all the modes are essentially the same, but the quicker acceleration in sports / sports + makes it so much easier to floor it.

I drive on C 99% of the time. The MPG really depends on your foot, although E helps you control the throttle a bit. E also controls A/C and some other minor adjustments, but I don't think it's worth it to save tiny bit of gas for the convenience.

I get about 31MPG freeway and 23 city -- about 27 mpg combined.

99% C and put into S or S+ to pass the old ladies on the road.

99.9% in S+. C and the other modes would be fine if the transmission was quicker to react.

Mercedes C250 Coupe
I probably have much in common with "the old ladies on the road"..........................

After 12,000 miles, I've probably experimented with the Sport button less than ten times.

It's really my 'better half's" car. I feel somewhat pretentious in the car. I drive a VW.

MPG-wise (per Fuelly dot com) the average is about 27; all time best was 35 (round trip to Scottsdale, AZ).

It - however - is a beautiful little coupe. The CPO sales guy said (about my purchase) "It was like shooting fish in a barrel.............."

My view exactly. Even when the ECU is trained for nimbler shifting in C, in my experience, the transmission still eventually bogs down, typically just when I need quick response. That hasn't been an issue when I stay in S+. I thought maybe this was just a 2015 problem, but now clearly not. I wonder if the newer 9-gear solves it? Would be interested to hear from those with a 2018.

c class
I drive mine 99% in Economy I have come to love the level of control the car gives me , I have so much time to analyze everything around me and the breaks respond in a way I haven’t found in other modes and the worst thing of Economy being getting cut off by all the bmw drivers or Lexus lol they just won’t stop throwing themselves in my safety zone.

i have driven the 2018 9 speed model and I didn’t like it because I felt fears shift when going uphill which is never something I’m aware of in my 2015 , kind reminded me of the Jetta I used to own.

90% in S; 10% in C. Prefer the faster acceleration.

e mode

On weekend, long highway drives, on C mode I can get 34mpg me driving; and 36mpg with cruise control (driver assist).
For my daily commute that is 70% highway speed and 30% bumper to bumper, I use e-mode and average about 29-30 mpg

my blended overall, three year which is dominated by daily commutes is 31.2 mpg

I also only fill with premium.

Interesting, for one of my services I had a loaner car for a few days. Previous drivers must have used lesser blends as the mpg was 27. When I was close to empty, I put a half tank of premium and the mpg went to 30+

shouldn't we be filling premium, always? I haven't risked filling anything less then premium
