"Rearview" Radar Detector Mount

Ok, I've been looking for a rearview radar detector mount since I replaced my BMW with a W205 two years ago. It seemed no one makes a mount for the rearview, but I finally found a great idea from a different forum. (Not sure if I can put the link here, it's a competitor)

It involves mounting the "MirrorMount" to the windshield overlay for the rain sensors and other electronics. I started by removing the overlay by following the instructions that are easily found online: https://mitchellcampion.wordpress.co...lass-w205s205/

"MirrorMount" is easily found on Amazon:
Amazon Amazon

You can search for how to remove the overlay, the hardest part to remove is that little piece above the rearview mirror.

First I lined up the bracket for the mount and I used a small drill bit to mark the center of the holes without drilling all the way through the overlay. Then I used a drill bit that allows the bolts would pass through the holes and finished drilling:

Then I cut the bolts that came with the MirrorMount down to size (note, I cut one a little too small in the photo, I had to use one of the other bolts that comes with the mirror mount to get the correct size (it comes with four).

I used a metal file on the bolts afterwards to remove burrs and make sure they would still thread into the mounting bracket.

Important: Your hands are probably dirty, so wash them before doing anything with the overlay.

I then mounted the MirrorMount(tm) to the overlay and tightened the bolts.

I made sure the wires were long enough for the radar detector. That other item is a car camera. They are both wired into the fuse box: https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...tion-feed.html

Then I put the overlay back on, plugged everything in, and adjusted it to my liking. Done!

I hope this helps someone.
