Need OEM, after market does not match USA standard

The Otto headlight does not have the amber light that is required in the USA. In USA, all cars have an amber parking light that is missing from Otto light which makes your car look odd compared to every other car in USA. Instead of buying a new non-USA after market headlight, someone should build an adapter that connects an LED OEM headlight to W205 with halogen in a play and plug fashion. This must be totally possible. The adapter just converts voltages from halogen to LED headlights.

WOW, my oldest post is still getting attention. There is converter available, the vendor is in China, however, you must reprogram the on-board computer. there is no pure plug and play.

it does not have the yellow amber light. I just do not like it. it works perfectly fine for me. it is the European style.

Sorry paulatl, Otto light is just not a viable option. It is not. It does not meet US standards and there are multiple reports that they don't work and break over time. Changing on-board computer is also not a good option unless it is performed by an authorized Mercedes Benz dealer. We need an OEM approved solution. If anyone is aware of such, please please post here.

Thanks

dealer option is possible... if you want to pay about at least 5k (3k for the new headlights, 1K for the cable and 1k for the labor). if you really like the OEM dual LED, the best option is to trade in and get a C43 amg, it is an amazing car.

I have no problem with my headlight.. where did you find many reports?

Thanks Paul. That is great to know. 5K is reasonable if it is done with dealer and real OEM part. You said "3k for the new headlights" which headlight is that? one from a 2019 model?

I read three reports, i this forum, saying the light had leaking issue with the seal. If you search you should be able to find it, including on this.

3k for Static headlight... for the dual LED, I do not think any MB dealer can do that for you.

Plug and play LED lights

The yellow side lights are a manufacturers requirements. MB must have the yellow side lights to sell the car in the US. This is a customer Mod. Have had my lights almost a year and no leaks, no problems. I would trade my car in before I would pay 5K just to have OEM lights installed.

To confirm. you are saying that it is perfectly legal to remove the amber side reflectors from the vehicle if you own it in the USA or Canada?
