How to remove the distronic plus star
I have distronic plus on my 2015 w205. How do you remove the star from the grill? I am concerned about breaking it.
I read that you insert a wedge at the bottom of the star point and pry open at the top. I tried, but no joy.

I figured it out! On my 2015 W205 Sport with distronic plus (the sensor is not mounted on the back of the star )
The star is twist locked (yellow) and has plastic clips (green).
Open your hood and insert your hand near the side (red). Push down (while twisting from the front) to turn the star anti-clockwise.
The star will turn and become a bit loose. You can now push on it from the back to release the clips and pop it out.
**Make sure to avoid the sensor.**

Hey Benzdude- first of all, I’d like to thank you for all of the inspiration for mods for my 15 c300 4matic I’m necroing this thread in hopes that you can provide me the part # of the black bracket; I purchased a distronic star on ebay (seemingly oem) and was confused about why it would not fit in the grill before I found this thread. I hope it is available separately from the A 000 888 01 11 part. Thanks in advance for your time and our collective wisdom!

Hmm... I have the Part # A0008880011, in the OEM box, in my hands, and the shape of the cabin facing side of the emblem is not similar to yours it all (ebay link). Mine is the mirror emblem on top of a thin black base, but the base is nearly flat and does not have any indentations like yours that resemble the star. The part is also simply too big to fit in either my stock grill or my currently installed Muscle-Leopord diamond grill (ebay link). I figured you fit yours on by having what I thought was a black bracket protrude out of your grill slightly... Wrong, I guess... I feel like I'm doing something stupid... Thoughts?
Plus, no where on the Ebay listing does it say OEM part. Why don't you ask the seller?
That looks more like a A1648880411 star for CL CLA E GLA CLS G ML.

I beat ya to it We’ll see what they say. “Fit all w205”... mmhmm... Interesting bc it has all the proper markings / part number engravings / made in germany marks similar to yours, just different layout underneath. Thanks for your responses!

I found a much easier way to remove the Star on a S550 coupe. Last Wednesday I was behind a eighteen wheeler thirty miles west of Albuquerque. NM and he moved from the passing lane to the right lane and kicked up the thread off a rethread tire and it hit the front of my cars grille. Distronic stopped working right away and when I pulled into a gas station in Grants, NM I found the Star long gone and the distronic still not working.

I know now to twist left as I rear ended someone and my star fell off, so I kinda twisted it back on and went on with my day. Stayed on for about 10k miles, eventually lost it while driving somewhere along the expressway. Replaced it now.

They then have to run the diagnostic software and test its alignment and then test the car. My dealer sail it took them 3 "adjustments" to get the bracket aligned properly.and to have the Distronics ECU accept it and turn off my warning light. It was not an inexpensive job.
I don't know if there is a true OEM illuminated star for Distronic but I have not seen one.
