Map update
Hi guys, I almost purchased the Map update today (V11) but I will wait for the V12 (2018-2019) as it is out in a month or so. Also, it is pretty expensive, so I will wait for v12. The parts guy has told me it was 95$ CAD for the map, and 188$ to get the PIN code to read the map from Mercedes.

I thought I had 3 years of free updates but current dealer tells me I only have one. Thinking about it, I've decided not to spend the bucks to update to a version that's out of date as soon as you buy it when I can use Waze which is always up to date, free, and provides so much more information.

With a 2016 C300, you should have a 3 yearly updates so if you've had your car serviced this year and it wasn't updated oops! Maybe you can insist on getting it done... Either way, next year you get your last one. Make sure you ask for it. Over here in the UK, I just input the full postcode to get to where I'm going. It does get to me when I try and enter a postcode of somewhere that's been around for at least 5 years and I can't. I have t to scroll thru to get to the postcode. Abysmal!

Has the V12 update changed the color scheme? My current version uses white text for street names on a light grey background. This makes it difficult to see.

Anyone know what the latest version map is for North America? I have v11 now with the ugly white street name on grey background also. This will be my 3rd year owning the car so I just want to make sure I can get that last free map update.

I just had my maps updated to v12.0 N. America a few weeks ago by the dealer.

Just had my map updated to V12 North America. I was told by 2 dealers that my 2018 C300 does not have free map updates but after talking with the salesman who sold me the car, he was able to give me a free update.
On my previous 2016 GLA, it is explicitly stated in the manual that the map will be updated free of charge for the first three years of ownership. When I tried to get the first update, I was told that it was an error in the manual. The dealer (not where I purchased the GLA) relented when I insisted that error or not, the updates were part of the package being clearly stated in the manual and I was given 1 free update. Didn't get the next 2 since I traded in the GLA.
I would suggest you try to haggle with a few dealers for a free update. Good luck.

I don’t recall to be honest. Minor changes. But all cars should come with 3-year free map update from original purchase date.

In the US - for recent models with COMAND Navigation there has been 3yrs free Nav Updates - as available at time of service.
So you know - it takes both Service and Serviuce w/Part's to check if map update is available for your Mercedes. If it is - the process takes up to 90 minutes and also requires Mercedes to respond with a specific activation code for your Mercedes for that update.
From the dealer side frankly Mercedes has made this process far from seamless - and also Mercedes does not pay any warranty labor to do this - so the most encouragement I can give a owner is to make sure when checking in for Service to "ask" about Nav update.
In the dealer VMI for your Mercedes - the best Mercedes does is to show a note that that says your Mercedes is eligible for update - without chasing it Service doesn't know if it exists or not.
On Garmin Nav Card - I have yet to see on dealer side how long you qualify for internet updates for that card - most scuttlebutt is 60-90 days from card activation - the real story is I don't know - for my daily driver C-Class I just buy a eBay SD-Card from a reliable vendor like dominorose and call it a day. Internet update of the SD Card is danged slow - and that's on Garmin.
Ultimately - and the German manufacturers change over new model to their German-Manuf purchased-nav-company - updates with be OTA (over-the-air) internet connected to the car - "likely" 2yrs out - we will see..
