Question Troubleshooting Media Device issue

Hi,

I recently bought a C300 (W205) and have been having issues trying to connect my Android phone via USB to play music thru the car speakers. I am able to connect fine with 'Bluetooth' but the sound quality isn't as good. While trying to connect via USB, the car recognizes my device as a 'MTP' player but when i hit the round knob, it says 'Activating Device Please Wait' and it stays stuck on that forever.
Has anyone had a similar issue with their Android devices? If yes, were you able to fix this issue and how?

Funny this thread has come back up. I was just trying to also try my Android with the USB connection (I have Audio 20) and it just says "Device Not Recognized". I can use Bluetooth audio just fine, was more or less interested to see if there was an improvement in audio quality with a hard-wired connection. I researched a little bit and found that it may have to do with the media source you're using on your phone (i.e., the car would recognize the default media player rather than Spotify, Pandora, etc.) Next time I'm back in my car I will see if using Google Play makes any difference. Anyone else have some ideas?

C200 estate 2019 AMG line premium plus.
Have you tried both usb ports?

Also some third party leads can cause problems, especially on iPhones.

Mine worked fine until I cancelled ’Apple Music’ now it’s not working, I have Spotify now but I can’t see why that would be a problem it doesn’t even recognise my Podcasts or Youtube

has anyone had any luck? Mine just started doing it since the car was recently serviced.

I cancelled Apple Music; but was successfully using Amazon Prime music on the USB interface.
now it works on Bluetooth; USB is stuck on “activating Device”

FYI... if you have the same issue as this.

So I tried this with a samsung galaxy s20 and as you can see on the image didn't work.
So I tried with an old IPhone 6 and worked perfectly, also tried with a Huawei p20 and keeps working great.
I contacted Mercedes but here in Ireland they are not great at costumer service and solved nothing.

There was a super helpful video on YouTube for this situation.

Same issue here , I tried all the ports , I tried resetting the computer by pressing the cd eject button for 10 seconds, different phones and still doing the same . I will try to go to a dealership and see if they can fix it but as one of our colleagues said , it is pretty difficult in times like this . Maybe one of you find a solution meanwhile 🤞🏽
