I've read that MB dealerships use 5W-40. I plan on using Liqui Moly 5W-40 on my next oil change. It's on the Mercedes approved list: https://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevolisten/229.5_en.html

Thanks. It is weird that it is not even specified in the user manual. They really expect their clients to just depend on the dealers.
I will use that liqui-moly too. I already use the 5w40 Le the Leichtlauf High Tech for my 911.

I'm using Mobil 1 0w-40 European Car Formula. Easy to find and MB approved.

+1. Quite frankly, I sincerely doubt that you'll find any performance or "protection" differences between quality rated (and MB approved) engine oils. Perhaps, if you are tracking the car or have a very, very heavy foot...maybe???

Mobile 1 5w-40 Euro is the one I use. If I lived in a cooler climate I might use 0w-40. Both weights are to MB spec.

Goofy purple oils may as well be snake oil. If I was that worried about extra protection I'd just change the oil more frequently.

I only get the goffy purple oil because it comes as part of a oil change kit I buy online. 0w oil had a reputation of causing rattling noise in turbo engines. Not sure if that applies to C300s.

+2 or 3

I called O'Reilly, who gives a discount for buying 5 of their 1 Qts instead of a big 5Qt jug; however, the discount on five 1 Qt bottles still was pricier than buying the 5 Qt. I buy the 5Qt from Walmart online and just get it shipped to me.

Mobil 1 and Liqui moly are the best, either works.

For those of you in colder conditions, 0W-40 is recommended.

Warmer can run 5W-40 if they prefer.
