Two questions: C400 Brakes and paint durability
Hi everyone, I am the proud owner of a 2015 C400 4matic in black, bought the car as a CPO in 2017.
I have two questions. Has anyone replaced the front brakes themselves? I recently purchased some akebono euro pads (I've used these on my previous German cars without issue)
Has anyone experienced clearcoat failure on the panel just in front of the panoramic sunroof? MB of Honolulu says that this won't be covered under original warranty.
Just curious if anyone else has had these issues.

"Fair wear and tear" was the answer I got. I haven't pushed the issue further so I came here to see what the lay of the land was.

There is nothing in the warranty about " fair wear and tear"; that's a cop out by the dealership IMO. I certainly would let go of this one. They could use that reasoning on just about any warranty coverage.

Agreed. Paint or coating failure for this age of vehicle should most certainly be covered. Raise it up the flagpole and make a simultaneous complaint to MB-USA about the service.
p.s. it's important to note that no glass polish or residue stripper should ever be used on that panel.

Hello,
I also have a C400 and I had exactly the same problem. I took it to the dealer and they were not going to fix it however while the car was there, they washed it and the problem became much worse so they agreed in the end to replace the panel.
I understand that this panel is not cheap so i would not let this go if I was you.

If Mercedes of Honolulu gave you a Service Invoice that said in writing this was not covered - then M-F East Coast business hours - call Mercedes Customer Care (800) 367-6372 - give them the facts and the Repair Invoice # that you want this handled under warranty as a defect - and YES this part has had other cases of "defective finish".. that will start up 2nd channel from MB that will reach out to your dealer to have this handled..
If Honolulu has just "told you" this - them go to them and tell them you want a written turn down so you can start a case with Mercedes Customer Care ... and I "think" Honolulu will want to change their minds..

I have the same issue on my C400, clearcoat failure on the panel just in front of the panoramic sunroof. Went to the local dealer and they told me sorry you past your 5year warranty. They told me the panel in front of panoramic sun roof would need to be replace and it would case me $700 for part. Does anyone have any suggestion on how to get this fixed.

I have the same issue on my 2015 C400. Took my car in, dealer was able to get MBUSA to offer goodwill replacement of the part but would not cover labor. I have ELW. Shouldn't MB USA cover labor too since it seems like this a known issue.

I did get mine warrantied but for different problem, it was sticking out and was uneven from left and right.

Wish it was that cheap...Dealer quoted $570 for their labor. I asked MB USA if they would cover the part and labor. They said no..
