Post Low Pressure Fuel Hose warranty extension

I have an MB C300 2017 less than 50K but out of the 4 year warranty scope. I received the letter as well, and tried to get the dealer to reimburse the cost of a repair for smelling gas in the interior last year. They sent me a quick note saying those replaced parts are not under the scope of the warranty extension: they only cover 07307 -Fuel Hose, A274 070 3500; PREVIOUSLY A2740700181, and Hose Clamp A006 997 1890. I will now escalate MB Customer Assistance Center. I believe the original issue is car was releasing gasoline and one could sense the gas smell in the interior; it is unacceptable to exclude certain parts if the resulting issue is the same.

Glad to learn form your individual experiences, hope to share if I can get a better outcome.

Same issue as everyone else...gas smell especially when parked in the garage. 2016 C300 Sport. Brought it to my dealership in NJ. They repaired it with no questions asked.
On a side note I was given a 2022 GLE 350 as a loaner. The interior was impressive especially the 12.3" Widescreen Display touchscreen and improved sound system Not a big fan of the body type though.

Noob here, but i recently bought my 2016 C300 at 48k but i don't have any warranty, would I still be entitled to the extended warranty because my car is under 120k miles?

its not the crankcase breather hose..this car does not have one it has a LCV (similar)..its the fuel line and its likely a 15 dollar hose and clamp for which the dealer will charge you several hundred bucks for..MB USA has extended the warranty to cover this repair as its a known fault...if thePCV part was faulty you will havew a check engine light...no fault code with the fuel line

You wont get a puddle becasue there is a plastic undertray beneath the engine that catches the fuel as it drips...

UPDATE- Trandport Canada came to my home and documented the leak as it happened on cold start. 20 minutes later I get a call from MB delaer in Toronot (who treated me like a fool when I first took it in with the US MB letter) and they was to do a recall fix om steering (which they never posted to their webiste) and say they will "look at the fule leak problem" They know what it is but cant say it becasue there is no agreement to repair..I call MB Buffalo to see if thye can and he said cant because its a Canadian VIN but told me right up front what the issue is....the root problem is MB uses Clic Claps which only clamp a hose to a fixed degree. In cold weather (the hose shirinks) or on older high mileage cars the rubber shrinlls and until engine heat expands the runner the fuel can frip out as it is pressurizes (low) on the feed to the High Pressure Pump.. yes the O ring in the HPF can fail..dont let them stick you with a new pump..the O ring is a few bucks and actually eay to do yourself if need be...replacing the hose and clamps under the car really takes a ramp or lift but its 10 bukcs in parts..hoese and two worm screw clamps...bottom line any fuel issue gets escalalated fast at Transport Canada so I expect some more noise on this...dealers here NEVER conatct owners and in fact when I checked for recalls for my car on the MB Canada sight it listed NONE but MB calls me and says there are two..its all a shell game up here with a terrible distributor that will pay in the end far more than if they had just done the right thing when I took the car in..I would have even signed a release to not dicuss...

Hey all,

Having this issue on my 2016 C300 Sport and brought It in to the dealer this morning and they said yes, they would cover the upper hose under warranty, but the center and lower fuel hose is what’s making the smell and that will cost $721.92. And that in order to warranty the top one, I would HAVE to service the center and lower hoses. Has anyone else found this to be the case? Has anyone just had the top hose done?

Thanks,

Thanks,
Sadly, another example of dealer BS and sorry to hear they are jerking you around. I understand they need to charge for repairs that are not covered by warranty, but if you elect not to pay for the additional work, they have no legitimate reason to not provide the warranty service on the covered part/service.

If you are looking for another option, I suggest going to an independent repair shop and I'm sure they can replace all 3 just as good as a dealer can for less than the cost of the dealer replacing 2.

What good is getting something for free when in the end it costs you more?

Good luck!

Thank you so much for the reply! And that is exactly what happened here, I told them to just do the MBUSA authorized work, and they agreed with the caveat that I still may smell gas because the bottom two hoses could still leak. I told them that’s fine.

I will take your suggestion and look for an indy here in the Chicagoland area that will most likely do it for much cheaper than $700. Thanks again!

Hey, same problem here with my C300 sport.

can anyone point me the high pressure pump location? I replaced the bottom fuel hose (10min job) but it didnt resolve the issue. So my next step is to examine the HP pump hoses and clasps.

The culprit in your case (as in mine) might be the other hose which is not that easy to access as the bottom one, part number is 2740703500. Hope this helps others!

The warranty repair period on this was extended to 10 years/120,000 miles. Get the dealer to fix it.

gas smell

I took my car to the dealer for the gas smell and they fixed it for free. I was told it is a non issue and Mercedes is aware of the problem.

Was the leaking fuel hose is a non issue or them fixing it for free?

Any MB dealership in Massachusetts is terrible. MB of Burlington MA is so terrible that i've called them 3 times for this exact issue and they never got back to me. They just say "my manager is currently busy, let me give you a call back". So I ended up replacing the hoses my self on my E Class (Ssme engine as yours M274).

Also, your dealer has to be an idiot if they don't know that the fuel hoses they're talking about is on the drivers side.. away from the exhaust which is on the passenger side.
