Staggered tires or not?
I am looking at replacing the factory runflats on my C300, but am trying to decide whether or not to stick to the standard setup or try different sized tires.
Is there a good reason Mercedes uses the 225 front/245 rear setup? Anything wrong with going to 245's or even 255's all around? I'd like a bit meatier tires just for handling, but I'm not sure if that will present any issues or drawbacks.

How many thousand miles do you have on the tires? Are they Continental tires? I have the same question like you? But i would stick with the current setup.

Wow, why do you plan to replace the stock tires? I have almost 18K miles on my C300 MY17. I'm happy with them, I just don't know how long they would last. I hope they would last up to 40K miles if possible. The only thing I don't like about the staggered tires is, you can't rotate them.

It's strange, my C has standard suspension only, and I don't have noise issue with these Continental tires. I'm in San Jose, Ca and the roads around here are not always perfect. Anyway, my next set of tires would be Michelin and I would use the same staggered setup.

With staggered tires since you do not rotate the tire manufacturer tread life warranty is HALF the normal amount.
SO if they list tires as 50K miles for you they would be 25K.
This is something to think about but not critical.
Also when you have staggered normally the rear wheel is wider so going to narrower tires can be a problem so all wheel sizes need to be checked if changing tire size

This is why I prefer non staggered over staggered tires. Tire wear.
