£1000+VAT for pan roof repair
Hi guys, so my pan roof won’t open and makes a grinding noise when you try to open it. I’ve taken it to my local garage who have had a look today and they said the following:
Checked sunroof operation found passengers side cable slipping suspect lift runner broken, requires roof stripping for full inspection but suspect will req both lifting runners and new cables total job will approx be £1000 plus vat thanks.
He said he recommends to change both side runners in case the other side decides to go then it will have to be stripped again. He said it will be around 8 hours labour and the parts are around £450 alone. I was a bit confused to why he said he will need to take the front seats out and remove the air bags aswell? I’m going to a Mercedes specialist next week to get a quote from them. Does this sound like a lot? It’s out of warranty and I doubt it’s worth asking for Mercedes to contribute towards it with there ridiculous prices.
Im going to have to get this sorted so when I do, what care can I take to keep it working best for as long as possible? In terms of certain lubricants etc
