C300 HUD parts shortage?
Put my deposit down on a custom order 2019 C300. Build did not go through because Heads Up Display is unavailable. So car cannot be ordered with an HUD. Supposedly supplier had a fire at their factory.
Negotiated a 2020 at the same price and looks like build will go through. Will take an extra month (delivery estimate is end of September). Is there a chance that car will run into a hiccup and HUD will be deleted? Or are they saving parts for the new model year?

Well... for a dealer to say "there was a fire at supplier/HUD factory" is quite frankly b*llsh*t - a dealer would not anything about that - and often a Dealer comes up with b*llsh*t when the Dealer has dropped the ball on their side on something..
1. Did you have a factory PO for a 2019 from your Dealer that had HUD on the confirmed factory PO - and then that HUD was dropped during production ? Some call this "factory red lining a feature" - which is covered in small print at the bottom of the Order/Spec sheet "Mercedes reserves the right to change prices or specifications without prior notice".
When a line item gets "redlined" then a dealer "normally" catches it when the MB is shipped - stupid dealers "don't know" until they try to deliver the rig to you.
2. Or are you saying you placed a order with your Dealer and the Dealer came back and told you he could not get HUD confirmed for your order/2019 ?
HUD is limited availability for all models - 2019 C300 production ends 1st week July - 2020 C300 production starts up by end-June - 2020 model release to US market scheduled for end-August - 2020 C300's currently have Limited Availability for HUD but available... and frankly HUD had been Limited Avail (but avail) for June 2019 production - but those orders were locked down a bit early like last week/10 days ago. Maybe your guys got caught short on getting your PO placed with the factory for your 2019..

Scenario #2, two days ago. P.o would not go thru for the 2019. He tried it for a 2020 and it did go thru.
Slot the dealer has for the 2020 delivers end of September so basically two extra months wait compared to a 2019 delivery.
So there is a possibility of HUD being redlined even if the 2020 order goes thru? That would suck
