S205 Slow gas pedal reaction

Hi everyone,

i hope I can explain the issue properly.

i frequently experience that the car just does react very slow. E.g. I am joining to an highway, I slowdown a little bit and when I need to speed up quickly it reacts like in 2 seconds for lockdown. This is very irritating and can cause an accident. I need to press the gas pedal till end, but in this case car just cries, I mean with 184ps that should not be that hard to move the car a little bit faster. But what it does is, thinks two seconds, lowers the gear and then starts to speed up. That kickdown should happen immediately. In sport+ mode this does not happen surely since it is already at 5. gear. This happens in comfort and eco modes, rarely in sport mode.

And even though I give full gas, reaction time does not satisfy me.

Do you have such an issue and is there any solution for this?

I read in German forums that Mercedes recommended someone to use pedalbox, do you have any experiences with it?

thanks and regards.

This is a quite common issue, i have used a pedelbox on my 2 last mercedes.
I also think feels like the reaction time i to slow.
I will absolutly recomend a Pedalbox, it is a cheap upgrade in my opinion.

Pull "left paddle 3 secs" - THEN stomp it buddy.."kickdown" is for slow pokes or those owners who don't really know what your C-Class can really do !

Thanks for the reply.

while I did not get your suggestion completely, what I need is small pokes. It should react almost immediately to speed up but it does not. It just pushes the engine on the same gear, then lowers the gear then speeds up.

People tends to call it turbo lag but it's not. It's way it's designed. Worse imo is CLA, after you stomp on the gas to overtake, wait 3 seconds.

Or upgrade to c43 and call it the day.

apparently getting it tuned eliminate these issues. the gas you're using will play a major role in this. try shell 91 and Lucas fuel treatment and you should stop having this problem.

The Dinantronic piggyback helped me with this issue.

Thanks. I guess it is a us brand, I live in Germany and looks like it is not popular here. Today also I discovered that the car has a feature called “engine reduced performance”.

do not know if playing with such gas pedal parameters break such a feature.

Look... "stomping the gas pedal" to get the tranny to kick down to "power gear" is like old buddy.. I mean like "old".

You pull the left pedal for about 2 1/2 seconds .. tranny drops to power gear.. THEN stomp it... works in EVERY country ..

If you want more, you will need to upgrade the car to AMG.

Thanks. No actually an e class or bmw can work also. What i am asking does not require amg. Even Mini Cooper can do that

BMW is using ZF transmission (probably Mini Cooper as well) which is designed differently. Tranny in your car can do it, as you said, in Sport mode as well. I know what you talking about, because I had the same impression that car thinks 2 seconds before acceleration. The same happens in case of a kickdown when transmission downshifts to 6000 rpm like there is much to do with remaining 200 rpm. Anyway, if you want to stick with Mercedes, you will need AMG Speedshift transmission and then you will be satisfied even in Comfort mode.

2013 e class doing it pretty well. I guess any model without agility select is fine. (Assuming more than 200hp)
