I recently purchased a 2020 C300 and was interested in installing the illuminated star. I have searched throughout various different forums on how to remove the current star. The majority of findings state to turn counter clockwise to remove. Unfortunately, have tried to no avail. Attached is the image. Lastly, the car does not have distronic.
The counterclockwise trick works on the basic star (hollow). If that's the new standard star on 2020 models, it will likely require a bit more work to remove. Look for the DIY for distronic removal, probably the same.
UPDATE: I was finally able to take it off (without breaking it)! Like others highlighted in their post's/DIYs...plus a phone call to the lead MB tech at the dealership, just turn counter-clock wise. Also, as mentioned above by jeboo and the MB tech, it's really in there. So much so, that I put a rubber mallet to it. Popped right off. Thanks to all.
