Windscreen scratch

Windscreen scratch
Hello, I have a Mercedes C-class (w205 model) and there is a long, but not deep, scratch on the windscreen caused by the wiper. I saw a few videos for repairing the windscreen using glass polishing (cerium oxide). Does any of you had a similar experience. I suppose (don't know if it is true) the windscreen has a sort of treatment or coating for light reflection, rain repellent etc. Does the glass polishing removes any coating or alters the color of the glass?

I just removed a scratch from the rear passenger side of my grandsons new Honda (He scraped the mail box backing out of drive way) I found a youtube demo which used
Turtle wax "Clean cut Rubbing Compound" and a bottle of Fast Orange , original hand cleaner that had pumice in it.
Use a 25% rubbing compound mix ed with 75% pumice. I used my buffer ( in fact I made him do it , He's 17 yrs old) and took my time and it came out perfect. I can't find the exact youtube video but they only used regular rubbing compound and the pumice soap with a buffer.
Just search on youtube for rubbing compound and pumice for window scratches. Good luck
On youtube there are various examples some use regular drills and others use buffers. Hope this helps.

It's not worth the effort because if you polish deep enough to remove the glass you will be left with an area of glass which will distort your vision when you look through it., Replace the screen or live with it.

Have not really looked in the sunlight but it looked fine when in the garage. Once you get through with removing the scratch, you just go over the rest of the glass lightly with the compound. As you probable noted on Youtube there are various tricks but start out with more gentile methods before going on the really hard glass polish.
